🚨As continues across , it's important to keep safety top of mind. Road safety is a shared responsibility between farmers and motorists.

When driving farm equipment on the roadways, remember to:

- Drive on the road, as travelling on your side of the roadway prevents unsafe passing.
- Circle check all equipment before leaving the farm.
- Avoid distractions, keep your focus on the road.
- Make time for rest and nutrition breaks.
- Be visible with your lights on and ensure the SMV sign is on all farm equipment.
-Be patient and wait until it's safe to pull onto the roadway.

Introducing Mel Karpenko

Based in Dufferin County, Mel and her partner operate a diverse livestock farm with dairy goats, broilers and hogs marketed locally and directly to consumers. She brings extensive leadership experience through 4-H Ontario, Canadian Young Speakers for Agriculture (CYSA), and multiple community boards, along with a background in health sciences and crop protection research.

Mel believes strong leadership and industry engagement are key to a vibrant future for Ontario agriculture.
