🎃👻 COSTUME SKATE IS TOMORROW! 👻🎃

Calling all ghosts, ghouls, witches, and superheroes! 🧙‍♀️🦸‍♂️

Our Halloween Costume Skate is happening Wednesday, October 28, during regular skating sessions!

We can't wait to see everyone's creative costumes! Please help us keep the fun safe on the ice:

⛸️ Helmets are still required for all skaters who normally wear them.

🎃 Long dresses, capes, and costumes must be shortened or securely tucked up so they won't get caught under skates.

👻 Secure any dangling accessories or loose costume pieces to prevent tripping.

🧡 Avoid masks that obstruct vision and leave costume props at home.

🖍️ Don't forget your Halloween Colouring Contest entry!

Bring your completed colouring sheet to the rink tomorrow to enter! Winners will receive a prize, and we'll display the artwork on the arena bulletin board for everyone to enjoy!

We can't wait for a SPOOKTACULAR time on the ice! 🎃⛸️

We encourage our skating families to take time today to reflect, learn, and participate in reconciliation. 🧡

⛸️ SKATE CHECK! Are your skater’s feet ready for Monday? 👀

Along with helmets and warm gear, having the right skates makes a BIG difference when learning to skate!

✅ Choose: Hockey skates or traditional figure skates that provide good ankle support.

❌ Avoid: Adjustable, molded plastic “recreational” skates like the ones shown with the red X’s. These often don’t provide the support, fit, or blade quality needed to help young skaters develop their skills.

A few quick tips before the first day:

⛸️ Make sure skates fit snugly — buying them several sizes too big can make skating much harder.
⛸️ Check that the blades are properly sharpened. Brand-new skates usually still need sharpening!
⛸️ Lace them securely so your skater has good ankle support.
🧦 Thin socks are best — bulky socks can actually make skates less comfortable.

Good equipment helps set your skater up for success on the ice! 💙

Not sure if your child’s skates are suitable? Bring them along and ask us — we’re happy to help! ⛸️😊

⛸️🎉 ARE YOU GETTING EXCITED FOR SKATING ON MONDAY?! 🎉⛸️

We can’t wait to welcome our skaters back to the ice! 💙

Before Monday, take a quick peek at your skater’s gear and make sure they’re ready to go!

🪖 HELMET REMINDER:
A CSA-approved hockey helmet is required for ALL Pre-CanSkate and CanSkate skaters. Look for the sticker. A full face cage is strongly recommended!

⛸️ Skates sharpened?
🧤 Gloves packed?
🧥 Warm layers ready?
🪖 Helmet fits properly?

Then you’re ready to SKATE! 🙌⛸️

See you Monday! We’re so excited to kick off another great season at Olds Figure Skating Club! 💙
