We’ve got some new critters in our neck of the woods, and it seems they’ve wandered straight into our hearts!

Introducing our adorable little Woodland Creatures Litter! 🍄🤍

These sweet forest friends are approximately 10 weeks old and arrived in our care last night all the way from Saskatchewan, with the help of the wonder crew at Angels of Hope!

We’re so happy to have them here and can’t wait to watch their personalities blossom as they get comfortable in their new foster homes! 🌼

🎉 WE ADOPTED A BUILDING! 🐾🏡

This might just be our biggest adoption announcement yet, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you!

Sheep River Dog Rescue officially has a place to call our own! 🥹💙

What started as a shared love for dogs and a desire to give them a better chance at a happy future has grown into something bigger than we ever could have imagined. And thanks to the incredible generosity of the Foothills community, we’re taking one of our biggest steps forward yet!

For the first time, we’ll have a permanent space right here in Okotoks that will allow us to do so much more for the dogs in our care and the people who love them. Beyond providing a safe space for incoming dogs and a home for our supplies, we envision a place where we can offer training and educational opportunities, bring people together, and provide even greater support for the dogs who need us most.

From the very beginning, this community has been behind us. You’ve opened your homes to foster dogs, rallied around us when we’ve needed it most, and helped us give hundreds of dogs a second chance. We wouldn’t be here without you, and we’re so grateful to have that same incredible community alongside us as we take on this exciting new chapter!

There’s a lot of work ahead to turn this building into everything we envision, and we know we can’t do it alone. We’ll be sharing more soon about our plans and how you can get involved in making it all happen.

This is more than just a building for Sheep River Dog Rescue. It’s an opportunity to create something lasting for the Foothills, and we can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together!

Here’s to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming as many dogs as possible! 🐾💙

😭🙏 Is anyone heading to Calgary from Regina this morning?! 😭🙏🏼

We are desperately trying to find transportation for four puppies to get to our partner rescue in Calgary today.

We had an entire transport coordinated between several volunteers, fosters, and our partner rescue, only to have the person who originally volunteered to drive the puppies cancel on us 45 minutes before they were scheduled to arrive in Regina.

One of our incredible volunteers woke up extra early on her day off and drove 1.5 hours this morning just to get these puppies to Regina. Meanwhile, our partner rescue’s foster coordinator booked Thanksgiving Day off work specifically to make this transport happen, as today was the day our original transporter was already planning to travel.

Now, after all that coordination and effort from so many people, we’re scrambling to find a way to get these four puppies to Calgary.

If anyone is heading that way today and could help us out, PLEASE reach out! We are happy to compensate you for gas.

Running an animal rescue is genuinely one of the most exhausting and unsustainable forms of charity work. The amount of time, energy, sacrifice, and coordination that goes on behind the scenes is something that’s difficult to fully understand unless you’ve lived it. So many people rearrange their lives, give up their days off, and go above and beyond to make things happen for these animals.

We’re just trying to catch a break here. 😭💔

A HUGE thank you to Pet Valu Okotoks! 🤍

We were absolutely blown away to receive a cheque for over $11,000 from Pet Valu Okotoks, raised through their PAW Month fundraising efforts back in June!

Thanks to the generosity of their customers and the hard work of the Pet Valu team, this year’s PAW Month was an amazing success, and we are so grateful to have been a part of it!

Pet Valu Okotoks has been a wonderful supporter of Sheep River Dog Rescue, and we truly can’t thank their team enough for everything they continue to do for us.

As our rescue prepares for some exciting growth, this generous contribution couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s going to make a tremendous difference as we take our next big steps forward!

Meet Autumn! 🍂

This beautiful girl is an absolute sweetheart, and her foster family has nothing but wonderful things to say about her!

Autumn is a clever little pup who loves learning new things, especially when there are treats involved! 🥰 She already knows how to sit, shake a paw, and lie down, and she’s been doing great walking on a leash, too. She’s great with children and has shown some promising signs around feline friends.

Autumn has a fun, playful side and loves her stuffed toys. She’s also a big fan of chewing on a bone in the evenings and occasionally gets a little mischievous when she’s in the mood to play.

Autumn is doing wonderfully with her puppy routines, with no accidents in the house and a great bedtime routine in her crate. She can be a little startled by loud noises, so she’ll benefit from some continued encouragement as she builds her confidence.

This Thanksgiving, Autumn is hoping for a family to call her own. We have a feeling that whoever gets to bring this sweet girl home is going to have a whole lot to be grateful for. 🧡

🐾 Our adoption process is designed to support both our dogs and their families. Every dog goes home on a trial adoption period (up to two weeks) so you can make sure it’s the right fit before committing, and we provide all supplies needed during that time.

Adoption Fee: $585
Includes age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, multiple deworming treatments, routine health checks, and spay/neuter fully covered when age-appropriate.
