🌧️🌊 With the 'potential' incoming rain to Southern Alberta, and the flood watch advisory in the Bow River Basin, PLEASE BE SMART WITH YOUR ANIMALS AND RIVERS! ( DON'T LET DOGS OFF LEASH BY THEM) Chances of fast rushing water may pull/sweep them into the river and the cold water from both the rain and runoff can be detrimental 😞

Stay in and do some nose work games 😊

Most areas are okay but prolonged heavy rain may cause flooding or possibly power outages if thunderstorms are accompanying, so please Be Safe, Be Smart and Be Prepared!

Areas around our response area have implemented high streamflow advisories for the Bow River.

Thanks to warming temperatures and snowmelt, water levels are rising on the Elbow River with an additional lift expected through the weekend.

Use extreme caution near the river and stay off embankments. If you are near the river, be aware that stream flows can be fast-moving and dangerous; people or pets can be easily pulled into water and carried away.

The water is moving fast, it’s cold, and has increased debris that poses a significant safety risk.

Rescues in these conditions are extremely dangerous for first responders. Please don’t be the reason others are put at risk. Fill up a kiddie pool and cool down from the heat safely!
