The Cederstrand Foundation

The Cederstrand Foundation is a registered nonprofit organization which is devoted to making a difference for those with disability within Canada.

We are a new foundation looking to provide the highest quality adaptive sports equipment and opportunity to return to sport to those individuals with the drive to persevere. For athletes living with a disability it becomes more than buying a pair of running shoes to run or buckling into skis or a snowboard. Equipment such as custom wheelchairs, prosthetics, or sleds designed for specific movements

are essential for individuals to reintegrate into sports

Our team is working with Prosthetic companies as well as SAIT Applied Engineering to design equipment for the vast diversity of needs of those with physical limitations as each disability faces its own challenges and needs.

Join us for the 3rd Annual Co****le Tournament hosted by Big Sky BBQ in support of The Cederstrand Foundation!

Our foundation president Chris had the honour of handing out medals to our National Champions in Judo this afternoon. Tremendous athletes and some hard fought matches.

It was also a great moment to announce our partnership between and , supporting a new adaptive judo program here in Calgary with the purchase of tatami mats.

shared some exciting progress (see below):
Over 40 lacrosse sticks, 12 judo gis, and 12 tatami mats secured—representing over $10K in equipment, with support growing from both the lacrosse and judo communities worldwide.

They’re also working to bring in World and Olympic Judo Champions to Calgary, many of whom are simply asking for help with airfare so they can come support and inspire this program.

So cool to see this momentum building.

Our founder, Chris Cederstrand, recently took on an incredible challenge at the Ice Climbing World Cup in Edmonton. 🧊🧗‍♂️

Chris is taking part in events like this to help build awareness for adaptive sport and advocate for greater opportunities for athletes with disabilities, with a long term goal of seeing more adaptive disciplines included in future Olympic and Paralympic Games.

After giving ice climbing a try, Chris said he absolutely loved the experience and called it one of the toughest challenges he’s taken on yet!

Pushing limits, opening doors, and helping grow inclusive sport.

Grateful nights like this remind us why community matters so much. ❤️

Some of The Cederstrand Foundation board members and committee gathered for a social evening at the Cederstrands’ home. An evening filled with laughter, connection, and a shared sense of purpose. It wasn’t about agendas or meetings, but about relationships, friendship, and the heart behind the work we do together.

A heartfelt thank you to Chris and Shannon Cederstrand for not only opening their home, but for opening their hearts to this community. The foundation you began is rooted in generosity, compassion, and genuine care, and it shows in every life touched and every person who comes together under its mission.

To be surrounded by people who believe so deeply in giving back, and to be led by individuals who live those values so authentically, is truly inspiring. We are grateful to stand alongside you, support your vision, and be part of something that continues to make a meaningful difference.

Thank you, Chris and Shannon, for your leadership, your kindness, and for reminding us that when people come together with purpose, amazing things happen.

Not everyone was able to be captured in this moment. Some had to leave early, and others couldn’t attend, but your support, commitment, and impact are just as valued and felt. This work is stronger because of each of you.
