"It's incredibly fun and fulfilling, not to mention a great living."

Elijah's goal was always clear: working with wood and building homes. 🏠

His passion led him to carpentry school here at Nexw7áỷstwaỷ Training and Trades centre — a decision he says became one of the most meaningful chapters of his journey. ❤️

At NTTC, he trained in incredible facilities, learned from supportive instructors, and built lasting friendships along the way. Teachers like Terry and Wilfred made a lasting impact; not just as educators, but as real mentors and skilled carpenters. 🪚🔨

Today, Elijah is working with Smallworks in the Vancouver area, building homes and he couldn’t be happier. 🏡

Elijah’s journey reminds us that when you pursue what you love and stay committed, it can turn into a lifelong craft you’re proud of. 🔨✨

From uncertainty to possibility 🚀

When Hannah C applied to the Nexw7áỷstwaỷ Training and Trades centre in 2022, she wasn’t sure what her future would look like. She was ready for something more than retail, but unsure what direction to take next.

At NTTC, she found space to explore. Through the Indigenous Building Maintenance Worker program, Hannah got hands-on experience across multiple trades in a supportive, culturally grounded learning environment. 🔧🌿

Beyond the skills and most importantly, Hannah uncovered her own capability. With encouragement from NTTC staff, she began to see new pathways open up. What started as trades training became a stepping stone toward bigger goals, including connections and references that eventually led her into her ideal university program.

Today, Hannah is in film school 🎬✨

She’s no longer in the trades, but she’s clear about one thing: “I would not be here if not for my experience at NTTC.”

A journey that started with uncertainty became one of growth, confidence, and new direction. 💛

A story of how showing up can change your career path. 🙌

Lyle Peters took the Heavy Equipment Operator program at NTTC and went all in.

🚗 He drove all the way from Hope, BC every single day just to be there: “’I'm amazed when I even think about that but it was worth it.”

Through class time at the Nexw7áỷstwaỷ Training and Trades centre to technical training at the IUOE facility, Lyle built the skills to operate multiple machines and understand the work behind it. 🚜

It paid off. Right after finishing the program, Lyle landed a job in Fort McMurray, working in an open pit mine that specializes in oil sands.
