The Capilano Students’ Union recognizes the value of hearing student perspectives from outside our elected student leadership group—this helps our board of directors make the best and most fully considered decisions for the organization. That’s why we are looking for five student leaders who are interested in sharing their perspectives, ideas, and suggestions, each focusing on one of our five student executive portfolios.

💵 Pay: $99.44 per board meeting

While the provincial government carries out its post-secondary sector sustainability review, the 2% tuition limit for domestic students could be on the chopping block this year. That’s why the CSU’s board is encouraging our members to come out and vote YES on the referendum question on your ballots from March 10–12.

🗳️ REFERENDUM QUESTION:
Do you agree that the Government of British Columbia should protect the B.C. Tuition Limit Policy that limits domestic student tuition increases to a maximum of two percent (2%) per year?

Help us send a clear message to politicians in Victoria that students won’t accept taking a step back in tuition and affordability protections. Every vote counts!

Have you met the candidates running for the 2026 board elections? If you haven’t met all of our candidates on the campuses, it’s not too late to learn more about them before the campaign period ends and you start casting your votes on March 10–12.

Each candidate was required to submit a biography to help voters to get to know them, and a campaign platform sharing their priorities for the Capilano Students’ Union. You can read the biographies and platforms online (see 🔗 in bio).

🗳 Do you know how VOTING works in Capilano Students’ Union elections?

👍 OR 👎
If there are only as many candidates as there are positions (such as one candidate for one position), you still have a choice—you get to vote YES or NO on that ballot. A candidate needs more “yes” votes than “no” votes to be elected.

🅰️ OR 🅱️
If there are two candidates for one position, you get to vote for the one candidate you prefer. The candidate who receives the most votes is elected.

3️⃣5️⃣4️⃣1️⃣2️⃣
➔ If there are three or more candidates for one position, you get to rank the candidates in the order in which you’d prefer to elect them—you can rank as many candidates as you like.

➔ If no one receives a majority of first-choice votes, the candidate with the fewest votes is removed. Any ballots that ranked that candidate first are then counted toward the voter’s next choice.

➔ This process repeats until a candidate receives a majority of the votes and is elected.

Want to get more involved at your students’ union? Now’s your chance!

We’re seeking new student members for five of our committees—that’s over a dozen spaces for new leaders. These are professional development opportunities that make a real impact on the direction of your students’ union and on your classmates’ student experience.

We’re looking for students to join us:
🏛️ governance committee
📊 finance and audit committee
📢 campaigns and advocacy committee
🫱🏽‍🫲🏼 events and services committee
💬 student engagement committee

Applicant must be able to commit to meetings (usually monthly: up to one hour to read through agenda materials in advance, and up to one hour to actively participate in person or by video in committee meetings that usually last about an hour). As a thank-you for your volunteer time, we provide an honorarium of $33.14 per meeting.

The CSU’s independent elections administrator has released the unofficial and preliminary results of our general election, student society fee referendums, and elections to the executive and council. These results are UNOFFICIAL, pending the resolution of outstanding complaints and appeals.

Please note that long-form results, including the results of ballots currently marked "result pending" and the preliminary tabulations of round-by-round counts for ranked ballot votes, will be made available by the end of the day tomorrow. Thank you so much to everyone who came out to vote this year!
