Today, we remember and honour Donald Freeman Van Alstine, a cherished Project SHARE volunteer who began volunteering with us in October 2023.

Don had a special way of making people feel welcomed, comfortable, and valued. He loved people, enjoyed helping others, shared stories, brought people together, and carried a wonderful sense of humour wherever he went.

He cared deeply about the people we serve, the donations that support our mission, and the volunteers and staff who work together each day. Don was one of those people you feel truly grateful to have met — someone whose kindness, positivity, and care leave a lasting imprint.

We are deeply thankful for the time, heart, and kindness Don shared with Project SHARE. His presence will be missed, and his impact will be remembered.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Don’s family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

📉 Our diaper inventory is going down… just like our warehouse worker Josh. 😅

Diapers size 4-8 and Pullups are one of our most requested items and one of the hardest expenses for many families to stretch. If you can, please consider donating a box and helping support local children and their caregivers. 🍼💛

🎉 In May we wrapped up our fiscal year, and what a year it was! Our incredible volunteers gave 20,150 hours of their time! That’s the equivalent of 10.5 full-time staff! 🙌

We are so grateful for every volunteer, whether you help in the warehouse, shop with clients, or connect with the community at events. You make everything we do possible. 💛

Anita has been with us since 2018, bringing energy, warmth, and dedication to our food room, satellite location, and community events. She loves seeing the direct impact of her work: “You can see the difference you are making in 130 people’s lives every day.” For Anita, volunteering isn’t just giving back... it’s creating real, visible change. 🌟

🚒 Thank You, Niagara Falls Fire Department Volunteers! 🧡

A heartfelt thank you to the amazing volunteers from the Niagara Falls Fire Department for partnering with Project SHARE and taking the time to raise food and funds for our community.

Because of your energy, enthusiasm, and commitment — along with the generosity of the Niagara Falls community — we collected 660 lbs of food and $3,690.35 in monetary donations. 🥫💛

Because of you, we are able to help feed 67 more individuals this month, providing not only food, but also dignity and hope when they need it most. 🤝✨

Thank you for standing with Project SHARE and helping us support our neighbours in need. Your partnership truly makes a difference. ❤️

Because of You, Niagara Falls! 💙

Thank you to Niagara Regional Police Service for facilitating a successful Spring Food Drive, and to our wonderful partners, Zehrs and Food Basics Montrose Road, for helping make this initiative possible.

Because of the generosity of our community, we collected:

🥫 1,653 lbs of food
💙 $953 in monetary donations

This support helps provide food assistance to approximately 77 individuals in need for a month — making a meaningful difference for neighbours facing food insecurity.

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and supported this initiative. Your kindness goes a long way in helping Project SHARE continue serving our community. 💙
