Rose of Sharon is a Canadian charity that offers free educational and supportive services to prenatal and parenting youth and their young families.

Rose of Sharon Services for Young Mothers is proud to be a social service agency in York Region that provides a full complement of supportive programs and services to young mothers (up to 29 yrs) and their children across York Region. Since 1985, we have given young mothers the opportunity to work towards their goals in a supportive, learning-centered environment while parenting their young childr

Introducing the first program at the Youth Thrive Community Hub!🌟

The SAVVY Program is a 10-week prevention program designed to empower youth with the knowledge, confidence, and tools to stay safe and informed about s*xual exploitation and human trafficking.

Hosted by Aleah Broderick from BridgeNorth, this program is open to female, non-binary, and gender non-conforming youth aged 12–18 and uses the evidence-informed My Life My Choice prevention curriculum. Participants will explore topics including healthy relationships, self-esteem, s*xual health, risk reduction, substance use, survivor stories, and safety planning in a supportive group environment.

🚗 Transportation and childminding available

This initiative is made possible through the Youth Thrive Community Hub partnership between Rose of Sharon, Aurora Black Community Association, Women's Support Network of York Region, and BridgeNorth, with support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

• BridgeNorth is a survivor led organization committed to ending s*xual exploitation in Canada.
• The SAVVY program is delivered through 8–10-week sessions with each week focusing on a different topic that is relevant to Sexual Exploitation and Human Trafficking
• This program is delivered through educational discussions and activity- based learning in a group setting
• Participants in the first week will need to complete a Pre- Survey
• Facilitators will provide a basic introduction to what Human Trafficking is, covering definitions of exploitation, s*x trafficking, coercion and what a trafficker is

🎉 We are thrilled to announce that Rose of Sharon has been awarded $13,996 through MagnaInternational International's Community Fund to support our Living & Learning Together in the Kitchen – Food Insecurity Program. 💙

This funding will help provide groceries, baby formula, diapers, hygiene products, and other essential supports to marginalized young families across York Region, while also empowering participants with practical life skills through cooking classes, meal budgeting education, food safety training, and nutrition consultations.

At a time when so many families are struggling with the rising cost of living, this investment will make a meaningful difference in the lives of the young mothers and children we serve.

These brothers delivered three huge carloads of items from their donation drive, PLUS they made a generous donation to support free programs and services at Rose of Sharon.

We are so touched by this incredible act of generosity. 💕

When a staff member at The Country Day School celebrated her upcoming arrival, she asked that guests donate to Rose of Sharon in lieu of gifts for herself. 💝

Thanks to her kindness and the generosity of her colleagues, Rose of Sharon received approximately $900 worth of much-needed baby items. What a beautiful way to celebrate a growing family while supporting other young mothers and babies in our community. Thank you for thinking of us! 🌷

A staff member dropped off the donations, came for a tour, and later sent a note sharing the sentiments on the second slide which we had to share. 🥰
