Congratulations to the Seniors Services Society of BC on another successful Walk of Ages!

EFry was pleased to join so many individuals, organizations, and community partners in walking together to support older adults and raise awareness of the importance of dignity, connection, and care as people age.

Thank you for bringing the community together for such a worthy cause. We are grateful for the opportunity to participate and to stand alongside those working to make a positive difference in the lives of seniors across British Columbia.

Today is World Day Against Child Labour.

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, play, dream, and grow in a safe and supportive environment, not to be forced into work that puts their well-being, education, and future at risk.

According to the United Nations, an estimated 138 million children worldwide are engaged in child labour, including 54 million in hazardous work, and nearly one in three children involved in child labour are denied their right to education.

At EFry, we believe that protecting children means creating communities where every child has access to safety, education, opportunity, and hope. Together, we can raise awareness, advocate for children's rights, and work toward a future where no child is deprived of their childhood.

On this World Day Against Child Labour, let us stand together to ensure every child has the chance to learn, thrive, and reach their full potential.

Burnaby’s future is taking shape through collaboration, innovation, and shared leadership.

It was great to join leaders from across the community at the 2026 State of the City Address hosted by the Burnaby Board of Trade, where Mayor Mike Hurley outlined the priorities and vision guiding Burnaby’s continued growth.

It was encouraging to hear a strong emphasis on building a community where everyone can thrive through inclusive approaches, meaningful investments, and a recognition that safety, well-being, and opportunity must reach all members of our community.

At EFry, our work in Burnaby spans housing, treatment programs, counselling, and programs at the Burnaby Youth Custody Services Centre, supporting individuals and families navigating complex systems. These conversations are critical to advancing approaches rooted in prevention, equity, and community-based support.

The Q&A session added helpful perspective, with a mix of substantive topics and some lighter questions that gave the audience a chance to get to know the Mayor more personally.

Thank you to the Burnaby Board of Trade for bringing together leaders across sectors for this informative and inspiring event.

Yesterday, EFry was pleased to join fellow sector leaders at the BC Non-Profit Leadership Concerence.

We appreciated the panel discussions, collaborative breakout sessions, and the opportunity to learn from the experiences and perspectives of fellow non-profit professionals. It was equally valuable to contribute to conversations about our collective future and the role we all play in building stronger, more resilient communities.

We look forward to fostering new partnerships and working together to create lasting impact for the individuals, families, and communities we serve.

We are deeply grateful to the Coquitlam Foundation for their generous $5,000 grant supporting EFry’s JustKids Initiative, which serves children and families in Coquitlam.

Through the JustKids Initiative, children gain access to safe, supportive, and enriching opportunities that help them build confidence, develop life skills, and reach their full potential.

Thank you, Coquitlam Foundation, for supporting our efforts and investing in the well-being of local children and families. We look forward to sharing the impact of this project and the positive difference your generosity will make in our community.

🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🌈

This June, we celebrate the strength, resilience, diversity, and contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and communities.

At EFry, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, valued, and empowered to live authentically. Pride Month is an opportunity to honour the journeys, voices, and experiences of those who continue to advocate for equality, inclusion, and belonging.

As we work alongside women, gender-diverse people, and families, we remain committed to fostering welcoming and supportive communities where everyone can thrive.

This month and every month, we stand with pride, compassion, and respect.

Today, we celebrate the incredible women who successfully completed the Skilled Trades Training Program at Ace Community College.

Their journey was not without challenges; many balanced family responsibilities, personal obstacles, and the demands of learning new skills. Yet through determination, resilience, and hard work, they persevered and reached this important milestone.

We are proud of each participant for investing in their future, embracing new opportunities, and taking meaningful steps toward economic independence and career growth.

Congratulations to our graduates! We can't wait to see where your skills, confidence, and determination take you next. Your success inspires us all and demonstrates what is possible when women are empowered with the tools and opportunities to thrive.

This training opportunity was made possible through the B.C. Ministry of Post-secondary Education and Future Skills and its Community Workforce Response Grant.

This program is funded by the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia.
