EFry Greater Vancouver is a community-based non-profit providing support to women, girls and children at risk, involved in or affected by the justice system.

Our programs work to break the cycle of poverty, mental illness, homelessness and crime.

A little Halloween magic brought a whole lot of smiles to Sapperton!

For several years, EFry has been part of the Sapperton Business Association’s Halloween festivities, welcoming families and handing out treats to children as they make their way through the neighbourhood. This Saturday, we were delighted to be part of the celebration once again, with close to 500 children stopping by to collect their Halloween treats!

Events like these are a wonderful reminder of the importance of community, connection, and creating welcoming spaces where children and families can come together and make happy memories.

A big thank-you to the Sapperton Business Association for continuing to bring the community together and for making EFry part of this much-loved annual tradition.

EFry participated in the Tri-Sun Networking Services Showcase, joining community organizations and service providers to strengthen connections, share resources, and build awareness of the services available to individuals and families.

By bringing service providers together, we help bridge gaps, improve access to support, and create more connected pathways for people navigating challenging circumstances.

This BC Non-Profit Recognition Day, we’re shining a light on the impact of community-based support and the people at the heart of our work.

Through 50 programs and services, EFry supports women, children, and families navigating complex challenges — helping create pathways to safety, housing, healing, connection, and opportunity.

But our impact is about more than the services we provide. It’s about making sure people are met with support, treated with dignity, and given opportunities to move forward.

Through EFry’s Pardon Me program, individuals receive support navigating the record suspension process and working toward new opportunities in employment, housing, education, and beyond.

Finding your voice is the first step toward making an impact.

Recently, EFry partnered with Toastmasters and NYIT for Find Your Voice, Know Your Worth, Make an Impact, a public speaking workshop designed to build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and empower participants to express themselves with purpose.

A big thank you to our speakers, Charie Ginete-Ilon, Dr. Andrew Woods, Rob Evans, Thad Rodrigues, and Thea Pugales, for sharing their insights, and to Karina Alatorre for keeping the session on time as our timekeeper.

We’re also grateful to NYIT students and our external guests for participating and making this workshop a meaningful opportunity to learn, connect, and grow.

The impact of workshops like this goes beyond public speaking. By helping participants communicate with confidence, recognize their strengths, and share their ideas, we can support them in pursuing opportunities, building meaningful relationships, and making their voices heard in their communities.
