It's showtime! 🤩

We are pleased to welcome Massey Theatre Society as the newest member of the New West Chamber!
Massey Theatre opened in 1949 as British Columbia’s largest theatre. Since then, its lights have shone on thousands of performances and the Massey has become a cherished space to experience the arts.

Massey Theatre hosts musical theatre hits, international music and dance forms, children’s entertainers, orchestras, choirs, ballets and stars of music like Jann Arden and The Brothers Landreth. Massey Theatre is neither a civic nor a school facility but a professional arts organization which works to support the performing arts throughout Metro Vancouver.

A Great Evening of Connections at Business & Bevies! 🍕🤝

What a fantastic evening at Pizzeria Ludica in New Westminster as we wrapped up Small Business Week 2026 with our Business & Bevies networking event!

We were especially excited to welcome so many new faces and local businesses! From creative entrepreneurs introducing their ventures, including a tabletop role-playing game inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, to real estate professionals expanding their networks, the evening was filled with great conversations, new connections, and opportunities for collaboration.

Beyond networking, Business & Bevies is also a valuable opportunity for the Chamber to connect directly with local business owners, hear about the challenges they're facing, understand their needs and priorities, and explore how we can better support and advocate for our business community.

As Small Business Week 2026 comes to a close, we are proud to reflect on a week filled with events and opportunities celebrating the resilience, innovation, and contributions of small businesses to New Westminster's local economy.

We were pleased to kick off the week with Adapt. Connect. Grow. on October 19, bringing together industry leaders, local entrepreneurs, business owners, and community partners for an evening of insightful discussions and networking.

Our panel discussion explored key trends and challenges shaping today's business environment, including rising operating costs, tariffs and trade uncertainty, changing consumer behaviour, and the importance of supporting local businesses. The conversation also highlighted opportunities to build business resilience, embrace emerging technologies including AI, explore practical strategies for financing growth, and strengthen local partnerships to reach new customers.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our distinguished panelists for sharing their expertise and valuable perspectives:

🏆Celebrating Leadership and Legacy in Vancouver

Our Board Chair, Karima, and Treasurer, Harry Jani, had the pleasure of attending the 2026 Canadian Business Leader Awards Dinner in Vancouver on October 15th, an evening dedicated to recognizing the outstanding contributions to Canadian business.

The event recognized Amar Doman, Founder of Futura Corporation, as the recipient of the Canadian Business Leader of the Year Award, and Jim Pattison, Founder of the Jim Pattison Group, as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Both recipients have made significant contributions to Canadian business through their entrepreneurship, leadership and commitment to building successful enterprises and supporting their communities.

The evening brought together business and community leaders for a memorable celebration of achievement and lasting impact.

We were pleased to have our Board Chair and Treasurer represent our organization at this special occasion and join in celebrating the accomplishments of these prominent Canadian business leaders.

Congratulations to both recipients on this well-deserved recognition!
