Two years ago, The Eldercare Foundation gave a generous gift of $15,000 towards the creation of an outdoor garden space where residents who want to participate in gardening can do so.

With the help of Horticultural Therapist, Bianca van der Stoel, and generous funding from the Estate of Michael Wansink, the residents and staff together planned to make an unused outdoor space between the dining rooms into a beautiful garden where residents can wander, gather together and grow their own flowers, vegetables, and herbs.

In September, Tania Fritz, Donor Relations & Program Manager at Eldercare Foundation, came to visit the final product at Trillium Lodge and also was able to watch a Horticultural Therapy session in progress.

A big heartfelt thank you to Eldercare Foundation and the Estate of Michael Wansink for making this dream for residents become a reality.

We were delighted to celebrate alongside Mid Island Health Alliance the opening of Primrose Medical Centre joined by the incredible donors, partners, and community leaders who were instrumental in making this healthcare centre opening possible.

The facility responds to a clear need in Oceanside: more access to local primary and specialty care in our region. It will bring family physicians, a nurse practitioner, nurses, a social worker and visiting specialists together in one place, helping reduce the need for patients to travel for care.

A huge congratulations to the incredible team of women at the Mid Island Health Alliance for having the vision and tenacity to make this vision a reality.

Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation is helping make that care more accessible with a $10,000 gift toward the Seniors Outpatient Clinic at Nanaimo Health Centre.

With expanded wound care, IV antibiotic therapy and other outpatient services, the clinic will give seniors and adults with specific health needs a dedicated place to receive treatment and support.

This gift reflects a shared goal: helping people manage their health so they can stay independent continue doing the things that matter to them.

We’re grateful to Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation for supporting better care for North and Central Vancouver Island.

For more than 30 years, TB Vets Charitable Foundation has supported healthcare in our community with respiratory equipment from their Frontline Heroes Grant.

From specialized breathing equipment for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to vital signs monitors for Oceanside Health Centre, TB Vets is helping Central Island patients suffering from respiratory emergencies.

This year, they made their largest gift ever to our Foundation - $59,585 to fund a new GlideScope Core System for the Emergency Department at NRGH! This state-of-the-art visualization system has a high-definition camera to assist physicians when navigating complex airways in emergency respiratory situations.

Thanks to TB Vets, our Emergency Department team will have another powerful tool to help patients breathe easier when every second matters.

Meet the 2026 Pepsi Code Brew Scholarship recipient, Mac Wood!

For Mac, caring for others isn’t something that starts with nursing school. They have already been giving their time to our hospital community, volunteering with Code Brew and as a greeter in the Medical Imaging Unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Through these experiences, Mac has seen firsthand the difference that kindness, connection and care can make. Now, they’re taking that passion into the next chapter of their schooling, with the goal of building a career helping others.

Mac has been awarded a $5,000 scholarship to support their education as they pursue a future in nursing.

Congratulations, Mac! We can’t wait to see where your journey takes you. ☕

It has officially been one month since our community celebrated the 33rd Annual Golf for Life presented by HUB International Insurance Brokers - Vancouver Island!

It was a wonderful day on and off the course filled with great golf, friendly competition, delicious food and plenty of memorable moments. From the excitement on the course to the conversations and connections shared throughout the day, the energy and generosity of our community made this year’s tournament truly special.

Thank you to Port of Nanaimo for a generous $10,000 grant supporting the Seniors’ Outpatient Clinic at Nanaimo Health Centre.

The clinic will expand access to wound care, IV antibiotic therapy and other outpatient services for seniors and adults with ongoing health needs. By helping patients receive care in a dedicated outpatient setting, it will support their independence and reduce pressure on NRGH.

Port of Nanaimo's commitment to community well-being extends beyond the waterfront. This gift will help strengthen healthcare for the people and families who call North and Central Vancouver Island home.

Thank you to Altrusa of Nanaimo for helping give newborns and their families a thoughtful start.

Through their generous donation of baby bundles of diapers, take-home bags and other essentials, Altrusa is helping parents leave NRGH with practical supplies for those first days at home. With so much to navigate when welcoming a newborn, this support gives families one less thing to think about, allowing them to focus on caring for and getting to know their baby.

We are grateful for the care and kindness Altrusa continues to share with families in our community.

Get ready to groove for a great cause!

On October 16, Zonta is bringing decades of hits to Royal Canadian Legion Branch #256 for an evening of live music, dinner and dancing with the Melody Kings.

Proceeds from the evening will support the cardiac care at NRGH, with a focus on advancing women’s heart health in our community.

The evening will also feature basket raffles, an art auction, 50/50 draws and more.

Tickets are $95 and include dinner, with a $25 tax receipt provided.

Thank you to Zonta for bringing our community together in support of better cardiac care on Central Vancouver Island.

What an incredible night under the stars!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Starlight Movie Night. With more than 1,500 tickets sold, it was wonderful to see so many members of our community come together for an evening of fun in support of local healthcare.
