in Antalya, Türkiye, is fast approaching!

Every year, countries gather to negotiate responses to the climate crisis. These processes are often complex and difficult to follow, despite their immense importance to our collective future.

That's why we're launching Climate Decoded, a series of 5- to 10-minute segments designed to give you the tools to follow international climate news with an informed perspective.

Explore the first two segments now to gain a better understanding of the complex world of international climate diplomacy:
1. The Establishment and Evolution of the International Climate Regime: from the origins of the UNFCCC to the present day
2. The ABCs of COP: how negotiations work and how decisions are made

📹 Watch them here: https://www.climatereality.ca/climate-decoded

This series was produced in partnership with Climatoscope 360, the Chaire de recherche en diplomatie scientifique climatique, the Dialogues pour le climat, and Climate Reality Canada.

What do we owe the places that sustain us?

Reciprocity is about relationships built on mutual responsibility. It asks us to think beyond what we take from the land and water, and consider what we give back, how we care for the systems that sustain us, and what we leave for those who come after us.

That question was central to our Arctic Crossroads Tour with Clayton Thomas-Müller, which brought Indigenous leaders, knowledge holders, researchers, and communities together across Manitoba to talk about a rapidly changing North.

From critical minerals and energy infrastructure to Arctic shipping and the future of Northern communities, the tour asked us to think differently about development... that is, not simply in terms of what can be built or extracted, but the relationships and responsibilities that come with it.

Our Arctic Crossroads Tour may be over, but these conversations are just beginning!

With municipal elections here, local Community Climate Hubs across the country are stepping up to ensure climate action and environmental policy are top priorities for incoming leaders!

Today, we’re shining a spotlight on For Our Grandchildren (4RG), who teamed up with the Peterborough Field Naturalists and Reimagine Peterborough to host the "Meet the New Mayor" All Candidates Meeting.

The response from the community was overwhelming! Demand was so high that after filling the main room at the Peterborough Lions Community Centre to capacity, an overflow room had to be set up so residents could watch together alongside over 150 live viewers online!

Highlights from the event:
• The candidates were questioned directly by a youth and a senior moderator on critical issues like expanding community greening, transit electrification, and implementing the city's Climate Change Action Plan 2.0.
• Local daily columnist Rosemary Ganley (Peterborough Examiner) called it "the best public meeting I've ever attended."
• The event generated major buzz, featuring coverage in Global News and the Peterborough Examiner.

Meet Raul Gonzalez (Mictlan Murals), a muralist whose work brings art, community, and resistance together!

Raul currently lives in a Land Back village and blockade in Secwépemc Territory, where the Tiny House Warriors are blocking the path of the Trans Mountain pipeline.

"The painting I made is about this fight, the dirty oil coming from tar sands in so-called Alberta heading towards ports in Vancouver to giant oil tankers crossing Secwepemc Territory full of pristine rivers and land. These pipelines are endangering the lives of millions,” he says.

For Raul, art is a way to empower communities and inspire change. His work reminds us that the fight for climate justice is inseparable from the defence of Indigenous lands and sovereignty.

🌎 Today, October 24 is the International Day of Climate Action. Around the world, people are taking action to protect their communities, lands, and futures. Explore the artwork and find a campaign to support in Canada (or another region), including protecting Hudson Bay from LNG development, stopping new gas infrastructure in Quebec, and ending public subsidies for LNG projects: https://www.climaterealityproject.org/day-action
