Community of Hope NB

🎉 Thank You for an Incredible Evening! 🎉

Thank you to everyone who attended our 2nd Annual Gala this past Saturday. What an incredible evening of community, generosity, and support! Together, we raised a gross total of $12,178.53 in support of Community of Hope NB and the women we serve.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our event sponsors, Crandall University and Hawkes Well Drilling, for helping make this special evening possible. We are also deeply grateful to the many businesses and individuals who generously donated items and experiences to our silent auction. Your support played a significant role in making the auction a tremendous success.

A special thank you as well to Moncton City Council, Ginette Petitpas Taylor, and Minister of Public Safety Robert Gauvin for attending and for your continued support of Community of Hope NB and our mission.

Together, you are helping create pathways to hope, healing, safety, and recovery for women in our community. ❤️

📸 More photos from the evening are coming soon, so stay tuned!

Great job to Nova Scotia Human Trafficking Unit 👏

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18n1RZXdwu/

The Nova Scotia Provincial Human Trafficking Unit (HTU) has charged a man with offences related to obstructing justice and failing to comply with bail conditions as he was awaiting trial on previous human trafficking charges.

In 2023, HTU began a s*x trafficking investigation related to multiple victims in Nova Scotia. In April 2026, officers arrested Fedul Cain, 49, of Porters Lake, and he was charged with 13 offences related to human trafficking and money laundering.

In October 2026, the HTU learned that Cain had not followed the conditions of his release and began a new investigation.

On October 19, Cain was safely arrested. He is now charged with nine new offences: Intimidation of a Justice System Participant (three counts), Obstructing Justice (three counts) and Failure to Comply with Release Order (three counts).

"While enforcement action is an important part of addressing human trafficking, our focus extends beyond laying charges,” says Sgt. Jeff MacFarlane, HTU. “Every victim and survivor deserves support, safety, and the opportunity to move forward. That support is available throughout the investigation and court process, and often long after it concludes. We remain committed to helping people leave exploitation and supporting survivors as they build the next chapter of their lives."

Cain remains in custody and will appear at Dartmouth Provincial Court on October 27.

More information about human trafficking is available on the Nova Scotia RCMP website.

The Nova Scotia Human Trafficking Unit is comprised of members of the Nova Scotia RCMP and the Halifax Regional Police, and is supported by police officers from across the province. Officers with specialized training in human trafficking and s*xual violence can be contacted through the Nova Scotia Human Trafficking Hotline (monitored 24/7 by a police officer): 902-449-2425.

❄️ We Need Your Help This Fall ❄️

As the seasons change, our need for women's winter clothing continues to grow.

Over the past year, the number of guests accessing our drop-in centre has nearly doubled. While this means more women are reaching out for support, it also means we need more resources to help meet their basic needs.

Right now, we are critically low on women's winter jackets and hoodies, especially in sizes XS, S, and M.

If you're cleaning out your closets this fall, please consider donating gently used winter jackets or hoodies. Your donation can help provide warmth, comfort, and dignity to women experiencing s*x trafficking and s*xual exploitation.

📧 Email us at [email protected] to arrange a drop-off or pickup.

Thank you for helping us ensure that no woman faces the colder months without the support she needs. ❤️

✨ We are incredibly grateful to Darren from Common Sense Defense for Women for providing such an empowering and practical self-defense training.

The knowledge, skills, and confidence we gained will have a lasting impact on our team. Darren took the time to encourage each member of our staff, ensuring that everyone felt supported and capable throughout the training. 💪

As staff serving in a vulnerable environment, we recognize the importance of being prepared for a variety of situations, including potential risks from traffickers or others seeking to exploit vulnerable individuals who may enter our drop-in center. This training has equipped us with greater confidence, awareness, and practical strategies to help keep ourselves and those we serve safe.

Thank you, Darren, for investing in our team. We highly recommend this training to any woman looking to build confidence and learn effective self-defense skills. 🌟🛡️

✨ We were so grateful to be invited into our community this season through several information booths that opened meaningful conversations about s*x trafficking and s*xual exploitation here in Moncton and across New Brunswick. Many people stopped to learn, ask questions, and connect — and because of these events, numerous awareness presentations have now been booked. Every invitation gave us the opportunity to share the work Community of Hope NB is doing to bring prevention, intervention, and restoration to our province.

A heartfelt thank‑you to Moncton Inclusion Summit, Dieppe Welcome Week, Recovery Day 2026, Crandall CU Serves Fair, and Hillsborough Baptist Church Mission Sunday for welcoming us so generously. 🙏

We are truly blessed by the work we do and by the people of this community. Together, we are building a safer New Brunswick. 💙
