Our theatre artists provide a myriad of theatre arts training through local schools, universities, and arts organizations. Professional Explorations

Another week, another great local show. Marshlight Theatre Company opens The Fixer Upper this week! You can find tickets on their website and linked in their profile!

The Fixer-Upper is a popular Canadian comedy play written by Lorne Elliott and first premiering in 2000. The play revolves around Bruno MacIntyre - played by Craig Farrish - a man seeking to take charge of his life, and his aunt Tillie - played by Kelly MacDonald-Mason - who opposes his efforts, resulting in a comedic "play in seven phone calls".

This summer, Shakespeare in the Park visits the Mediterranean coastal town of Ephesus dressed in it's most rad vintage attire.

Shakespeare's first comedy and Samuel Grove 's directorial debut with the company, we hope you'll join us for The Comedy of Errors set in a hilarious 1980's that is sure to have you in stitches.

The 2026 Moncton Theatre Pic Nic, organized by Satellite Théâtre is here!

At the intersection of sharing, reflection, and celebration, the Theatre Picnic embodies the spirit of Satellite Théâtre’s École de Création : a space where the body, imagination, and collective experience are at the heart of the artistic gesture. Performances, open workshops, public discussions, and moments of conviviality intertwine to create an event that is accessible, generous, and deeply human.

Professional events:

On top of nightly performances of Nassim Soleilmanpour's world-renowned White Rabbit Red Rabbit in French, English and Arabic, the Pic Nic includes two main professional events:

Two opportunities for professionals to showcase their talents: one for performers, the other for creators.
(Yes, you can absolutely be both!)

As part of the 2026 Pic Nic, Satellite Théâtre is offering two complementary spaces for artists:

On one side, a moment dedicated to performers - to be seen, build their network, and create professional connections.
On the other, an evening designed for creators - a space to share ideas, forms, and instincts without filters, whether still in progress or fully realized.

(Again, yes, you can be both!)

Wednesday, May 6, 2026 – Performers
3:00 PM to 6:30 PM - Open Auditions and Networking (bilingual event)

Come share your talent in front of artistic directors from across the province and industry professionals.
Solo or as a group, you’ll have 5 to 7 minutes to present whatever you wish.

Confirmed artistic directors: Marc-André Charron (Satellite Théâtre), Philip André Collette (théâtre l'Escaouette), Stephen Tobias (Saint John Theatre Company / Atlantic Repertory Company), and JB Vanier (Hubcity Theatre).

Then, we open the bar and mingle!

Registration required: [email protected]

3:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Open auditions
5:00 PM - 6:30 PM: Networking

Friday, May 8, 2026 - Creators
9:00 PM - Buffet continental: an open mic at your own risk

As part of the 2026 Pique-nique théâtral, Satellite Théâtre offers a playground for creators, inviting artists to share their universe with the public in a cabaret-style open mic night.

No expectations of polish or format here: weird, funny, sexy, moving, messy, in-progress, almost finished, half-baked — everything is welcome in this wide-open space of creative freedom.

Creators should know they will have a 10 minutes maximum performance window.
Limited spots. Registration required: [email protected]

Mother’s Day Workshop & Performance: What we carry

This Mother’s Day, come take part in a unique workshop and/or performance where we connect through movement, storytelling, and reflection.

This is a theatre workshop using techniques of Viewpoints and Clown to explore how we create stories with our bodies. Together, we’ll dive into memory, presence, and expression as a means of discovering new ways to connect to our own experiences through movement.

Following the workshop, stay for a short clown performance that brings this work to life. The piece explores the stages of grief through the story of a girl who has lost her mother. Built from verbatim text and movement developed in previous workshops with women who have experienced maternal loss.

A brief talkback session will follow the show, for reflection and feedback as the piece continues to grow toward becoming a touring work.

Workshop: 2:00–4:00 PM
Crossman Memorial Centre – Smythe Room

Performance: 4:30 PM (with talkback to follow)

Workshop Cost: $50 (includes free entry to the performance)
Performance Only: Pay-what-you-can (suggested donation $10)

Come for the full experience or join for one part of the day. Everyone is welcome. No previous experience is necessary.

A space for creativity, memory, and shared human experience.

To register for the workshop or performance please email: [email protected]
