Today marks an important step in our journey toward the New Brunswick Indigenous Summer Games. Under the guidance of Coach Kelvin, our youth have been out on the field, not just practicing sports, but building the foundation for a healthy, active life.

The Events & Skills "We focused on four key areas today that align directly with our provincial Physical Education goals:
β€’ 100 Meters: Developing explosive power and locomotor speed.
β€’ Softball Throw: Mastering manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination.
β€’ Long Jump & Running Long Jump: Enhancing stability, balance, and the 'flight' phase of movement."

Curriculum Connection "In the New Brunswick curriculum, we talk about Physical Literacy. This means more than just being good at a sport; it’s about having the confidence and competence to move in many different ways. By learning which events they can enter, our athletes are taking ownership of their own 'Wellness Journey'β€”a key pillar of the NB Physical Education framework.

Coach Kelvin’s explanations help our youth see where their strengths lie. Whether they choose the track or the field, they are demonstrating the Global Competencies of collaboration and self-management. We are proud of their hard work today and can’t wait to see them represent our community at the Games.
