Join the Huronia Community Foundation on Thursday, September 24, as we celebrate the people, partnerships and philanthropy making a difference across our community.

Our Annual Community Report brings together donors, fund holders, charity partners, volunteers and community members to reflect on the past year, share what’s ahead for HCF and celebrate Executive Director Scott Warnock as he prepares to retire after seven years of leadership.

A special guest conversation will explore Philanthropy and Partnering to Support Affordable Housing, Social and Health Programs, offering insight into how philanthropy and community partnerships can work together to address complex local needs.

If you have read the various Huronia Community Foundation articles and announcements in our local media, you will know how fortunate we are to have Patricia Michener as a volunteer!

As a member of the Commununications, Marketing and Social Media Committee, Pat assists HCF with publicity and any other job we can find for her.

Following a degree in journalism, Pat wrote for newspapers, magazines and video creation companies before she and a business partner founded MarketLink, a Toronto-based corporate communications company in business for 25 years. In retirement she and husband Bob moved to their 69-acre property near Vasey. After years of writing she recently published her first book, "Emma Madison Master Meddler."

Over the next few months we'll be profiling the people who are part of the HCF story. Thank you to Pat and all our who help raise awareness about HCF funds, our donors, partners, people and how we are giving back as a 'super charity' to all local charities.

A beautiful day for a bike ride supporting this amazing community resource.

We have reached an incredible 89% and we’re so close to reaching our fundraising goal for this year’s Georgian Bay Cycle for Hope!

💙 Celebrating Susan Lalonde Rankin

Some people volunteer for a cause. Others become part of its story. Susan is one of those special people.

As past Chair and a long serving board member of Huronia Community Foundation, Susan has played an important role in HCF’s growth and impact. And, thankfully, she isn’t stepping away! Susan continues to generously share her time, experience and community knowledge as an HCF volunteer.

Most recently, Susan stepped up to support the recruitment of our incoming Executive Director, helping guide a strong transition for HCF. We are incredibly grateful for her willingness to continue rolling up her sleeves and helping wherever she can.

Susan’s career and community leadership have included:

🌟 A career dedicated to mental health, addictions and community well-being, including leadership roles with Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care and CAMH.

🌟 Providing leadership as Chair Huronia Community Foundation, and staying on as a volunteer on the Governance Committee, helping strengthen the Foundation and its role in our community.

🌟 Championing community knowledge and engagement by participating on the team to create Vital Signs https://www.huroniacommunityfoundation.com/vital-signs/, helping HCF better understand local needs and opportunities .

And there is more to come! Susan will be working alongside HCF volunteers and our incoming ED, Jess Klug, on the next Vital Signs report. We are so fortunate to have Susan’s experience, insight and passion at the table as we look at the issues and opportunities shaping our community.

💙 Celebrating Community Giving: The Stone Family Fund

On Friday, Huronia Community Foundation was pleased to join the Victoria Harbour Food Bank for a cheque presentation recognizing the continued generosity of Gail Stone, sponsor of the Stone Family Fund.

Gail presented a $1,000 annual grant from the Stone Family Fund to Mary Warnock, President of the Food Bank, helping support local families and individuals in need throughout Tay Township.

Mary shared:

“Your ongoing support is appreciated. We use our monetary donations to buy food to fill our hampers that are given out monthly to Tay residents in need.”

The Stone Family Fund continues to make a meaningful difference in our community year after year.

Thank you, Gail, for your vision and commitment to supporting our neighbours in need.
