Through her vision, dedication, and genuine love for her community, Gail brought the Commemorative Forest to life, creating a meaningful place where families and friends can honour loved ones, celebrate special moments, and leave a lasting tribute for generations to come.

Her passion, leadership, and unwavering commitment have turned a simple idea into a living legacy that continues to grow year after year.

Even beyond the age of 70, Gail continues to inspire those around her with her energy, determination, and belief that one person can make a lasting difference. The trees planted today will stand as a testament to her vision for generations to come.

🌟 Congratulations Les Little on being named a 2026 Top 7 Over 70™ - Southeast Alberta recipient!

Les’s passion for teaching is only rivaled by his passion for aviation. For more than 50 years, he has dedicated himself to helping others learn, grow, and pursue their dreams, leaving an impact that reaches far beyond the classroom and the runway.

From helping build Bar XH to founding Super-T Aviation alongside his wife, Terri, Les turned his passion into a lasting legacy. Today, more than 120 students enroll annually, benefiting from the vision and commitment he brought to aviation education.

Even after the age of 70, Les continued to look for ways to create opportunities for young people. His leadership in establishing the South Alberta Flight Academy (SAFA) opened doors for high school students to earn their Private Pilot's Licence while completing their education, creating pathways to careers in aviation for generations of young Albertans.

From the classroom to the cockpit, Les has spent a lifetime lifting others to new heights. Congratulations! ✈️👏

Congratulations to David Carter on being named a 2026 Top 7 Over 70™ - Southeast Alberta recipient!

If you've ever had the privilege of spending time with David, you've likely come away inspired by his stories, impressed by his wisdom, and uplifted by his genuine warmth. At 92, David continues to enrich the lives of those around him through his passion for learning, writing, and sharing his remarkable knowledge with others.

What makes David's contributions truly special is the impact they have had on people's lives. One of his books has provided comfort and guidance to individuals living with dementia and Alzheimer's disease, as well as those who care for them, reflecting his compassion and desire to make a meaningful difference.

David's legacy of service extends far beyond his writing. During his 17 years as an MLA and more than seven years as Speaker of the House, he served with distinction and earned the respect of colleagues across Alberta. Even after his time in elected office, he continued to share his expertise by mentoring future Speakers and leaders.

Those who know David best often speak of his remarkable memory, positive outlook, and willingness to share his experiences with others. His enthusiasm for life and lifelong commitment to learning remind us all, that making a difference has no age limit.

Congratulations, David, on this well-deserved recognition. Your legacy continues to inspire us all. 👏❤️

Please join us in congratulating Gordon Reynolds being named a recipient of the 2026 Top 7 Over 70™ - Southeast Alberta Award!

For more than a decade, Gordon has been a dedicated leader and champion for the Bow Island community, serving in numerous roles and initiatives, including the Highway 3 Twinning Development Association, the North 40 Mile Waste Commission, the Highway 3 Water Commission, and as Mayor.

When Bow Island faced a critical healthcare challenge with only one physician serving the community, Gordon stepped forward.
Through determination, vision, and collaboration, he led the effort to establish a Municipally Controlled Corporation to operate the local medical clinic, creating an innovative and sustainable model for healthcare delivery and physician recruitment.

Today, the community benefits from a fully functioning hospital, two physicians, and a stronger healthcare system built to serve residents for years to come.

Gordon's ability to recognize a need, bring people together, and create lasting solutions exemplifies true community leadership. His commitment to improving the lives of others has left a meaningful and enduring impact on Bow Island and its residents.

Congratulations to Uwe-Karsten Krickhahn on being named a recipient of the 2026 Top 7 Over 70™ - Southeast Alberta Award!

At the age of 70, Uwe embarked on an extraordinary mission to expand the free Kartenmeister database. Through years of meticulous research, mapping, and cross-referencing, he has helped identify and document more than 110,000 locations across the former East and West Prussia, Pomerania, and Poland.

His work has become an indispensable resource for individuals seeking to uncover their family histories, reconnect with ancestral communities, and trace family names that changed in the aftermath of the Second World War. By making it possible to search locations using German, Polish, Russian, and Lithuanian place names, Uwe has helped countless people bridge gaps in their family stories and connect with their heritage.

More than preserving geographic information, Uwe has preserved connections. For families displaced by war and historical upheaval, his work has provided a renewed sense of identity, belonging, and understanding. His dedication has enabled people around the world to rediscover their roots, reconnect with their past, and, in some cases, even locate living relatives.

Gail has demonstrated exceptional vision, leadership, and community spirit in spearheading a unique and innovative project—the Commemorative Forest.

As a result of her dedication and forward-thinking approach, the Commemorative Forest initiative for citizens of the City of Brooks and County of Newell has experienced overwhelming success and continues to grow each year. Through this inspiring program, community members can sponsor trees in the urban forest to honour a special person, commemorate a meaningful event, or create a lasting tribute that will be enjoyed by generations to come.
