This lead us to partner with local individuals and local organizations overseas to create opportunity for individuals, families and communities. The first two Giving Table evenings have been really special! 🙏😊

We started in Calgary and then headed to Medicine Hat, where we had the chance to sit down with guests, share a meal, and have some great conversations about Real Humanitarian’s work in Ethiopia.

Bisrat Sime, our Ethiopia Country Representative, shared stories from his experience working with the children and families we support, and there was plenty of time for questions and conversation.

There are two more Giving Tables coming up. We’ll be in Winnipeg tonight at The Old Spaghetti Factory and in Regina tomorrow at Rosemary & Rye.

On October 7, The Giving Table is coming to Rosemary & Rye for an intimate evening with Ethiopia Country Representative Bisrat Sime, Co-Executive Director Rachel Austin, and a small group of guests.

Over dinner, you’ll hear stories from the communities Real Humanitarian serves and learn more about how access to education is creating opportunities for children and families in Ethiopia. 📚🤝

Rosemary & Rye brings its own local flavour to the evening, with seasonal, prairie-inspired dishes and a Mediterranean twist in the heart of downtown Regina.

Here’s a look at the children at one of our CCN Centers getting creative with science! 📸🔬✨

The children made their own kaleidoscopes and had fun seeing the colors and patterns change as they moved them around.

Kaleidoscopes are a great way to see science at work, with light reflecting off the mirrors and precise mathematical angles creating the colorful, symmetrical patterns inside.

You’ve heard about Bisrat. Now it’s time to meet him! 😄🙌

He’s a hard worker, a problem solver, a storyteller, and a funny person with a lot of personality. But what stands out most is the dedication he brings to his work and his commitment to making sure children have the support and opportunities they need to learn and grow.

For more than 15 years, Bisrat has put his time, energy, and experience into strengthening Real Humanitarian’s programs and helping make education and other essential support available to children in Ethiopia.

Bisrat has been part of Real Humanitarian’s work in Ethiopia since 2011. Over the years, he has helped grow our programs, support our teams, and work closely with the people we serve.

Now he’s bringing his stories to Canada. At The Giving Table, you’ll have the chance to meet him, hear about his experiences working in Ethiopia, and get to know the person behind so much of our work.
