Sewa Canada International Sewa Canada International serves the underprivileged through Disaster Relief, Health, Education and Social Development projects.

Sewa is a registered Canadian charity since 1999 The definition of 'Sewa' in Sanskrit is:
selfless service to the sick, poor, destitute, vulnerable and oppressed members of our social structure. At SEWA Canada this is exactly what we do. SEWA Canada’s motto is “Service to Humanity is equal to service for Higher Power” (Sanskrit: 'Nar sewa, Narayan sewa') due to our belief that the world is a global family. (Sanskrit: 'Vasudaiva kutumbakam')

Our volunteers continue to provide the 20‑day health relief initiative at Yellow Gumba in Kathmandu, Nepal. This Gumba hosts survivors of the flash floods relocated from the worst effected Rasuwa and Timure areas.
Over the last 10 days, 102 people have received therapy. This initiative is providing urgent health support and helping families regain physical and emotional stability during an incredibly difficult time.

Around 400 displaced families are currently sheltering at two Buddhist Gumbas (Temple), including the Mustang Gumba in Swayambhu, Kathmandu. Alongside physical hardship, many are facing severe mental distress and health challenges. Our volunteers have launched a 20‑day health relief initiative at these two Gumbas, offering psychological counseling, and essential medical care.

Our team has been on the ground for the past three days, preparing and delivering these services. Already, more than 21 people have received therapy. This initiative is providing urgent health support and helping families regain physical and emotional stability during an incredibly difficult time.

P.S.: Respecting the protocol at the Gumbas, our volunteers do not take photos/videos of the families receiving aid.

One of the most heartbreaking moments our teams witnessed today was at a Buddhist monastery located on a slightly higher ground near the Trishuli river. A mass funeral was taking place there for those who lost their lives in the flood. On their way back, they saw survivors sitting by the road, sharing their pain and frustration. They had lost their homes, and had not received sufficient aid yet
Our team immediately distributed out remaining 50% of the relief materials to these families.

Today Wednesday 02 Sep - Our team of volunteers reached the flood-affected area of Bidur, Nuwakot, via Trishuli at around 1 PM (Nepal Time), carrying relief materials.

Around 50% of the relief materials were handed over to the District Coordination Committee (local government authorities supervising and controlling the supervision of relief to survivors.

The remaining 50% family relief packages prepared by our volunteers last night, was directly delivered and distributed to the affected families.

Sewa Canada International's support for Dedicated Advocacy Resource Support (DARS), in Pickering, ON, by providing 100 hot meals every month, to individuals in the community who are experiencing housing instability and food insecurity. Pictures from the support provided last Thursday, Apr 30th

These monthly dinners play a vital role in DARS programming. Apart from access to nutritious meals, it also creates a welcoming and dignified space where individuals can gather, connect, and experience a sense of community. For many of the guests, these meals represent stability, care, and human connection during times of significant hardship.
