Yee Hong is a caring community where seniors enjoy a continuum of culturally and linguistically appropriate care. About Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care:
With a person-centred approach, Yee Hong annually serves over 15,000 seniors and their families across the GTA, through its 4 centres operating a total of 805 long-term care beds, numerous satellite outreach offices delivering community services and community medical clinics. The waiting list for our long-term care beds has surpassed 3,000 – the longest in Ontario. In order to sustain high quality care and our wide range of community-based programs, Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation raises funds to support our operations.

頤康中心是一個充滿關懷與愛護的社群，為長者提供連貫性、切合文化及語言需要的護理服務。秉承服務對象為本的宗旨，頤康中心從一九九四年起投入服務。現時，頤康營運四所共八百零五張床位的中心及多個衛星辦工室，全力支援三百零八個終生租約長者單位，並透過社區服務如日托、外展及社區醫務所，每年為超過15,000人次提供切合文化需要的全面性社區服務。現時輪候頤康長期護理床位的人數超過3,000人，是安省最長的護理院輪候名單。爲了能夠維持我們提供的多項社區活動，頤康基金會通過每年的籌款來支持四間分院的運作。

Meet Kie Cheung Chue, a retired principal and Chair of our Resident Council at Yee Hong Mississauga.

Mr. Chue speaks Cantonese and English. Some of his neighbours speak only Mandarin. "But we get along very well," he says. "We have each other."

The Community & Professional Services (CPS) division came together for our annual retreat under the theme, Delivering Our Future Together.

It was a meaningful and fruitful day where program supervisors and department teams shared milestones, celebrated achievements, and exchanged valuable learnings from our day-to-day operations. These conversations strengthened our connections and encouraged us to continue learning and growing together as we work to enhance the services we provide to our community.

We also took part in av su***de prevention workshop to strengthen our knowledge and awareness, followed by an art jamming team building activity that encouraged creativity, connection, and teamwork. We look forward to new opportunities, shared achievements, and exciting adventures ahead.

Together, we learn, grow, and deliver a better future for the communities we serve! 💚

Today is National Seniors Day, and we celebrate older adults across Canada and the many ways they enrich our families, communities and society.

At Yee Hong, we are grateful for the wisdom, stories, traditions and experiences our seniors share with us every day. Their contributions continue to inspire us and strengthen the communities around them.

Take a moment today to celebrate a senior in your life, whether it’s a parent, grandparent, co-worker, neighbour or friend. A visit, a phone call, a walk together or simply saying “thank you” can go a long way.

Together, let’s build a more caring world where every senior feels valued, respected and supported.

❤️ Caring for the Community — Everyone Has a Role to Play!

A small act of kindness can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.

Our senior residents in Yee Hong Garden Terrace, part of Community & Professional Services, recently came together to demonstrate their strong community spirit by donating 6 full trolleys of food to the ACSA Food Bank, supporting individuals and families in our community who may be experiencing food insecurity and other challenges.

👵👴 Age is never a barrier to making a difference.

Our seniors are not only members of the community who deserve care and support — they are also active contributors who care deeply about others, especially those who are vulnerable and in need.

With their life experience, compassion, generosity and willingness to give back, our residents continue to show that seniors can play a valuable and meaningful role in building a stronger community.

This donation is about more than food. It represents compassion, dignity, connection and community spirit - and a beautiful example of how we can all make a difference when we care for one another.

This weekend, Yee Hong’s Board of Directors and Senior Executive Team came together for an important strategic discussion about the future of seniors care and seniors living.

As part of the session, CEO Glen Chow and our Board welcomed an outstanding panel of industry leaders: Michael Fedchyshyn, CEO of Building Ontario Fund; Jamie Schlegel, President and CEO of Schlegel Villages; John Yip, President and CEO of SE Health; and Michael Lam, Senior Director, Development at Toronto Community Housing.

Led by the Burnie Group, the conversation challenged us to think broadly about how seniors care and seniors living will continue to evolve, including new models and campuses of care, stronger connections to community, opportunities for partnerships and investment, and new ways of reaching and supporting seniors.

These perspectives are especially valuable as Yee Hong looks beyond our current Renewal and Performance Plan and considers our longer-term direction. While how we deliver care will continue to evolve, our commitment remains constant: providing culturally responsive, person-centred care and improving the quality of life of seniors, residents, clients and families.

We are grateful to Michael, Jamie, John and Michael for generously sharing their time, experience and perspectives, and to the Burnie Group for guiding such a thoughtful and engaging discussion.

There is significant opportunity ahead for Yee Hong, and conversations like this help us think differently about how we can continue to lead, innovate and contribute to the future of seniors care in Ontario.

This summer, Yee Hong’s Community & Professional division was delighted to welcome two Bachelor of Social Work students from the University of Hong Kong for their three-month placement. With the guidance of their academic supervisor and the support of our CPS team, the students gained hands-on experience across different aspects of community and social service practice.

They were involved in a variety of group activities, where they learned to identify participants’ needs and use those insights to develop and tailor group sessions. They also gained experience in group facilitation, engaging participants and creating a positive and inclusive group environment.

They supported case management, gaining a better understanding of case development, service navigation, and the importance of applying social work theories and knowledge to real-life situations.

The students were also had the opportunity to plan, organize, and deliver community programs — from developing ideas and preparing program content, to coordinating logistics, recruiting and engaging participants, and evaluating program outcomes.

Placement is not simply about training the next generation — it is about learning from one another, exchanging perspectives, and growing together.

We look forward to welcoming more placement students in the future and continuing this journey of mutual learning and professional growth.

Our residents were delighted to welcome a kind and talented volunteer who shared her beautiful piano playing with them. As the music filled the lobby, residents gathered together to listen, enjoy the melody, and share a lovely moment with one another. 💕

We are always grateful for the wonderful volunteers who generously share their time and talents with our community. They bring so many beautiful moments of connection and happiness to our seniors. 💚

When an emergency happens, every second counts. Knowing what to do can make all the difference.

At our Caregiver Education and Resource Centre within the Community & Professional Services division, we are committed to providing meaningful workshops and programs that empower caregivers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to navigate challenges and respond effectively when it matters most.

One highlight was our caregivers who took part in Heartsaver CPR/AED and Basic Life Support (CPR Level C) training, gaining hands-on experience in a fun, interactive, and easy-to-follow session.

From learning how to perform CPR to using an AED, our caregivers are now better prepared to act quickly, stay calm, and potentially save a life. ❤️
