Yee Hong is a caring community where seniors enjoy a continuum of culturally and linguistically appropriate care. About Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care:
With a person-centred approach, Yee Hong annually serves over 15,000 seniors and their families across the GTA, through its 4 centres operating a total of 805 long-term care beds, numerous satellite outreach offices delivering community service

s and community medical clinics. The waiting list for our long-term care beds has surpassed 3,000 – the longest in Ontario. In order to sustain high quality care and our wide range of community-based programs, Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation raises funds to support our operations.

頤康中心是一個充滿關懷與愛護的社群，為長者提供連貫性、切合文化及語言需要的護理服務。秉承服務對象為本的宗旨，頤康中心從一九九四年起投入服務。現時，頤康營運四所共八百零五張床位的中心及多個衛星辦工室，全力支援三百零八個終生租約長者單位，並透過社區服務如日托、外展及社區醫務所，每年為超過15,000人次提供切合文化需要的全面性社區服務。現時輪候頤康長期護理床位的人數超過3,000人，是安省最長的護理院輪候名單。爲了能夠維持我們提供的多項社區活動，頤康基金會通過每年的籌款來支持四間分院的運作。

Celebrating Community, Friendship, and Active Aging

The Yee Hong Active Seniors and Outreach Program (ASP) of the Community & Professional Services division was delighted to host the Yee Hong Macrobian Club 16th Executive Committee Inauguration Ceremony and Annual Dinner, bringing together members, volunteers, instructors, performers, committee members, and staff for an evening of celebration, laughter, and connection.

The event marked the Inauguration of the new Executive Committee and celebrated the vibrant spirit of our ASP community through inspiring performances, engaging activities, and heartfelt moments. A special highlight was the performance of our 93-year-old member, reminding us that active aging is about embracing opportunities, sharing talents, and enjoying life together.

A heartfelt thank you to all our members, volunteers, instructors, committee members, and staff for making this celebration so special. Your dedication and enthusiasm help us build a welcoming community where older adults can stay active, connected, and inspired.

We’re excited to announce that our new long-term care home, the Ng Siu Chan Care Centre, has received cultural designation from the Ministry of Long-Term Care and Ontario Health. This recognizes the new home as being primarily engaged in serving the Chinese community and providing culturally responsive care for seniors.

As we prepare to welcome 224 residents, we continue to carefully coordinate construction completion, regulatory approvals, and operational readiness. We now anticipate welcoming our first residents in early 2027.

💚 20 Years of Compassion ✨

For more than 20 years, Margaret Chiu has dedicated her time to supporting seniors at Yee Hong in the Long-Term Care Adult Day Program. Along the way, she’s learned that volunteering is about more than giving back, it’s about connection, empathy, and the ways we grow through caring for others.

For Margaret, volunteering has broadened her perspective, helped her understand life more deeply, and given her a meaningful opportunity to express her love and care for others.

Yee Hong welcomed the Honourable Dr. Helena Jaczek, MP, Markham Stouffville to its Markham home where she met five students working under the Canada Summer Jobs program. Our students bring fresh ideas, creativity, and compassion, helping to enhance the quality of life for our residents, support staff, and advance innovation in long-term care.

The students shared their projects with MP Jaczek, including technology, inventory, volunteer programs, and a tracking system for resident care information. MP Jaczek had the opportunity to interact with a robot greeter being reprogrammed by one of the students and see a student developed, interactive resident activity that includes picking apples.

Thank you to MP Jaczek and Canada Summer Jobs for supporting young people and helping them discover and develop their talents in the workplace through creative and innovative experiences. We look forward to seeing our students continue to grow throughout the summer and into their future careers.

Exciting progress continues at the new Yee Hong Ng Siu Chan Care Centre! With more than 75% of construction complete, most of the work is now focused on the interior. Behind the scenes, our team is also preparing for opening by recruiting new staff, developing orientation sessions, and planning for a seamless experience for residents and their families.

We're looking forward to welcoming residents to this new home in late 2026.

From lively performances and joyful laughter to heartfelt moments shared with loved ones, these celebrations honoured lives well lived and cherished memories shared across generations. 💗

A heartfelt thank you to our talented performers, dedicated volunteers, Foundation summer interns, caring staff, and the families and friends whose love and support made these milestone birthdays even more meaningful.
