We were honoured to support the Physicians Community Spirit Event this morning, hosted by the Ridge Meadows Division of Family Practice.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, we raised $4,000. Of that, $1,000 was donated to Bouquets for Baba, while the remaining $3,000 will be reinvested directly into our community through the Maple Ridge Community Foundation.

Bouquets for Baba is a grassroots initiative created in partnership with Maple Ridge Florist Ltd. Launched in 2020, it was designed to bring joy and connection to seniors experiencing isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the program has continued to thrive, delivering nearly 3,000 bouquets to local seniors.

The Ridge Meadows Division of Family Practice is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving health outcomes in Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, and Katzie First Nation. Through leadership, collaboration, and support for local physicians, they help ensure residents receive the highest quality care possible.

Community supporting community—it doesn’t get much better than that!

What an incredible legacy to come out of the 2024 BC Summer Games in Maple Ridge!

On July 18, 2024, our community welcomed more than 3,100 athletes, coaches, and officials from across British Columbia, supported by over 2,000 dedicated volunteers who helped bring the Games to life.

Today, that spirit of community and volunteerism continues through several lasting legacies at Telosky Stadium and beyond:

♿ The installation of the City’s first outdoor accessible seating, helping create a more inclusive space for athletes, families, and spectators.

🌳 The planting of a new Legacy Grove, which will provide shade, beauty, and environmental benefits for years to come.

🏅 The creation of the Maple Ridge 2024 BC Summer Games Legacy Fund with the Maple Ridge Community Foundation, supporting future annual sport grants for local non-profit sports organizations.

We’re honoured to help steward this legacy and support opportunities for sport, connection, and community for generations to come.

We'd love to share a few more moments from this year’s Citizen of the Year celebration.

From honouring this year’s recipients to celebrating alongside community members, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters, the evening was a beautiful reminder of the people who help make Maple Ridge such a caring and connected community.

Congratulations once again to all of this year’s award recipients and finalists. 💙

A special thank you to Ariane Jaschke from Capture Photography Studio for capturing the evening so beautifully.

We are so pleased to introduce you to Brooklyn Nicholson, Maple Ridge's 2026 Youth Citizen of the Year, awarded by the Maple Ridge Community Foundation, who donated her entire $1,000 prize to Cythera 🤩

Brooklyn, you are exactly the kind of leader this community needs and we are so honoured to have your support 💜

"Throughout my years in leadership at Westview Secondary, I have had the opportunity to raise money and support local organizations. This year I chose Cythera Anti-Violence Society, which enabled me to put together personal care packages for women and children. After seeing what I was able to accomplish and understanding the important work Cythera does to support vulnerable individuals, I made a commitment to myself to continue to raise money and awareness for this important community resource. From my research and connecting with the amazing Cythera staff, I learned what specific items they require to help women in need. When I won the Youth Citizen of the Year award, I knew I wanted to donate the $2500 I was given to Cythera on behalf of the Maple Ridge Community Foundation. As youth, it can be easy to get discouraged or overwhelmed trying to change societal or global issues that apply in our community. But taking just one step to reach out to local organizations, or volunteering through schools or sports organizations, can have a profound impact. I truly believe we are a generation filled with the strive and innovation to implement change, as I have both experienced and witnessed firsthand. I have always been motivated and inspired to run fundraisers or volunteer, with the goal of being part of something bigger and being part of change. Winning this award is a tremendous honour, and I really hope it reiterates to youth in Maple Ridge what a difference you can make, and the importance of recognizing community need, evaluating what you can do to help, and then taking action."
