What happens when a family faces an unexpected crisis? Sometimes, a little support can make all the difference.

In this video, Maple Ridge Community Foundation President Kevin Nosworthy and Board Member Ernie Daykin share a few stories that highlight the impact of the Community Chest—a neighbours-helping-neighbours initiative that provides immediate financial support to local individuals and families facing urgent challenges.

Through a partnership between the Maple Ridge Community Foundation and Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Community Services, the Community Chest helps address critical needs such as health-related expenses, mental health and crisis support, maintaining employment, and ensuring household safety and stability.

At our Community FORE Charity Golf Tournament on June 22, golfers will have the opportunity to participate in our "Chip into the Chest" challenge, sponsored by Danfoss Couriers and Freight, with proceeds supporting this important fund and the people who rely on it.

The Hammond Murals project brought together the talents of several local artists in 2020. Today, we're pleased to recognize Diane Speirs and the artwork she contributed to this lasting community landmark.

Diane began painting in 2005 and became an active member of the Garibaldi Art Club in 2009, where she currently serves as President. Working primarily in acrylics, Diane draws inspiration from the natural beauty that surrounds us in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

The completed murals can still be viewed today on Mini Mall Storage, a Supporting Sponsor of the Maple Ridge Community Foundation.

As we continue looking back on projects that have helped shape our community over the past 50 years, we're revisiting the Hammond Murals project completed in 2020.

Following community consultation, artwork by April Lacheur Art was selected for inclusion in the final mural designs. April draws inspiration from the natural beauty of British Columbia's forests and landscapes, creating acrylic paintings that encourage viewers to connect with nature and find a moment of escape in their everyday lives.

The completed murals can still be viewed today on Mini Mall Storage, a Supporting Sponsor of the Maple Ridge Community Foundation.

Thanks to Kingfishers Waterfront Bar & Grill, our golfers will be ready to hit the course at the 13th Annual Community FORE Charity Golf Tournament on June 22! We're pleased to welcome Mini Mall Storage as a Supporting Partner of the Maple Ridge Community Foundation.

Many residents may recognize the large murals located on the Mini Mall Storage building in Hammond along Maple Crescent. What some may not know is that the Foundation played a role in bringing those murals to life.

In 2020, we worked alongside local partners to engage the community, gather input, and help guide the design of two large-scale murals celebrating Hammond's history, culture, and character. Artwork from nine talented local artists was incorporated into the final collage-style designs, creating a lasting community landmark.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be sharing the story behind the murals and spotlighting the artists whose work helped shape this unique community project.

Thank you to Mini Mall Storage for supporting the Foundation and helping celebrate local creativity in Maple Ridge.
