Cortes Community Docks is Hiring!

Do you like spending time outside in the sun? Do you want a fun, flexible job with some awesome co-workers? Cortes Community Docks is looking for help this summer!
We are looking for someone between the ages of 15 and 30 to come work for us for the months of July and August. This is a fun, dynamic, customer service job with flexible work days and the opportunity to learn a variety of skills that can be taken with you to future jobs. Wages start at $20 per hour (30 hours per week).

Cortes Community Docks will be doing a clean up of the dock and parking lot areas on Robertson Road and will be towing unauthorized vehicles and trailers from the lot.

Free lumber Give-Away!!

Cortes Community Docks will be hosting another free lumber day on Saturday, March 21st from 12:30 to 3pm at the Whaletown Fire Hall.

We have a large pile of timbers which were recycled from the Whaletown dock and are still in excellent condition. Come take 1 or 100, they all have to go and we'd love to see them repurposed and reused!

Are these boats yours?

There are two dinghies that are full of water at the Manson's Landing dock. CCD staff have been keeping an eye on them, but we would like to remind boat owners to please make sure you check on your vessels regularly and bail them out when needed. If these boats belong to you, (or if you know who owns them) please give the CCD a call at 250-935-0263.

Free Timbers and wood!

Thanks to the amazing efforts of our construction team, a large number of beautiful timbers (in a variety of dimensions and lengths) have been salvaged from the Whaletown Dock. Rather than have them end up as scrap, we would love to see them reused and repurposed.

Wood will be available for pickup on Sunday, November 30th, from 10am until 12pm at the Whaletown firehall. Please bring your own vehicle for transportation, and perhaps a friend to help you load, as some of the timbers are very large. Please do not come early, as we need to respect access for the fire department to their equipment and property.

Note: this wood is NOT suitable for firewood, as it is either pressure-treated or creosoted. It may also contain nails, bolts or other metal hardware.

As we roll deeper into the winter storm season, Cortes Community Docks (CCD) would like to remind the Cortes community that we have opened additional live-aboard spaces at the Manson's Landing, Cortes Bay, Squirrel Cove and Whaletown docks.
