🏀 Exciting things are happening on Cortes Island! 🎾⁠

The new Multi-Use Sport Courts are really starting to come together and we couldn’t be more excited to see this community project taking shape.⁠
A huge thank you to everyone who has helped make this happen — from the SCCA and CICF, to the BC Gaming Commission Capital Projects Program, the SRD Community Works Fund, generous donors, volunteers, and all the hardworking crews on site.⁠
⁠
The concrete pad was poured last week, fencing will be installed in June, and volunteers will soon begin painting the court lines and landscaping the area.⁠
⁠
We’re aiming for a grand opening in mid-July, bringing pickleball, basketball, and more hard-court sports to the island!⁠
We’re also continuing to raise funds for a future roof so the courts can be enjoyed year-round.⁠
⁠

We’re excited to have live music drifting in and out of the building throughout the day, with the talented McKenty Brothers playing beautiful folk music outside to help set the perfect market vibe. 🎶⁠

Come enjoy a delicious community lunch in the Main Hall, then head over to the Pioneer Room where free tech support will be available. Whether you’re struggling with your phone, laptop, email, or just want to learn something new—there will be someone there to help. No question is too small!⁠
This is a great chance to gather with others, share a meal, and build confidence with technology in a friendly, no-pressure space.⁠
