NO INTAKE:

To our compassionate community, we're currently at 'no intake' due to the high volume of medical cases we've taken in. We understand there are many cats out there—strays, pregnant cats, and more—needing help. However, our priority right now is to focus on providing the best possible care for the cats already in our care.

As one of the very few rescues that takes in and specializes in medical cases that others might quickly euthanize, we give these cats a fighting chance and do everything possible to provide that. Many of them remain sanctuary cats; ones that are not adoptable unless an adopter has extensive experience with providing individualized care for these life long conditions.

With that, unless it's an absolute dire medical emergency with life-threatening conditions, we won't be able to take in new intakes for the time being.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to give our current feline residents the attention and treatment they deserve. Thank you for helping us make a difference, one paw at a time! 🐾

It’s with the heaviest heart that I share the news of Loki’s passing. He was a true warrior, showing incredible strength and willpower every single day. Despite his fierce spirit, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) eventually took over, ending his battle.

Loki's journey began as a stray, marked by a severe wound on his ear and a polyp that caused him discomfort. Despite his rough start, he possessed an unyielding spirit. In the few months he knew love, he experienced the warmth of safety, the comfort of shelter, and the peace of companionship.

Though his time with us was short, Loki knew love and comfort. He wasn't alone and knew a home. He leaves behind a legacy of strength and resilience, reminding us to cherish every moment. Rest in peace, sweet Loki. Fly high little buddy. You’ll be forever missed. ❤️🕊️

If you're thinking of getting into animal rescue, here's something you need to know:

You need to build armor, not just for the hard work, but for the people.

You’ll need more than compassion. You’ll need resilience. You’ll need to remind yourself daily why you started, because the world will test you.

People will cheer you on when you post a happy rescue story. But when you say no, because your rescue is full, your funds are low, or your team is exhausted, those same voices will criticize you.

They’ll forget the animals you saved and focus on the one you couldn’t take.

Don’t let it change your heart.

Some people will praise your care, your process, your kindness, until they want to surrender a pet, and you ask questions or try to help them work through it. Suddenly, you’re the worst person for them.

That’s part of the job.

You’ll lose relationships. Some friends won’t understand why you fight for animal rights. Others will be cold to you when you’re being too dramatic for them after spending the night with a dying rescue.

Let them go.

People will call you every hour, message you at 2am, expect you to be available around the clock. And when you finally pause to breathe, they’ll say you’re fake, you don’t care.

It’ll sting, but keep breathing anyway.

Other rescuers will criticize how you operate, even if they’ve never set foot in your rescue. Some will help. Others will just talk.

Focus on the work, not the noise.

You’ll see things you can’t unsee. You’ll witness cruelty. And sometimes, no matter how fast you get there or how much you spend, you’ll still lose the animal.

Those are the nights you’ll sit and cry alone, and no one knows that.

But even in that pain, you’ll keep going.
Because despite all of it, the judgment, the burnout, the loss, the work matters.

Every life saved is a reason to continue.

Rescue is beautiful, heartbreaking, and unforgiving. But if you’re in it for the right reasons, you’ll find strength in the heartbreak and purpose in the pain.

Just don’t lose yourself in the process. ❤️

It's disheartening to address the untrue rumors circulating about our rescue. We want to set the record straight: the SPCA and bylaw have not found any issues regarding hoarding or the environment in which our cats live. These claims are being spread by individuals who have stolen cats from us and, ironically, engage in hoarding and irresponsible ownership themselves.

The welfare of any animal we take in is of utmost importance. Each one is immediately vetted and receives the care they need. We operate with transparency and welcome genuine concerns, but we cannot stand by while lies are spread to tarnish our reputation and undermine our efforts.

We urge everyone to consider the source of these rumors and to rely on facts, not fabrications. If you have any legitimate questions or concerns, please reach out directly. We are always happy to provide information and demonstrate the care we provide to our feline friends. Thank you for your continued support. ❤️

Little Loki finally had the polyp removed! He’s feeling so much better. ❤️

We ran bloodwork to see why he hasn’t gained much weight since intake, and sadly found out he has kidney disease. We will treat accordingly for as long as needed, to make sure he feels as best as he can.

And yes… she is a he. 🙄
With the tiniest little bits, he had us all fooled he was a girl at first. What a beautiful boy he is 😸

Discarded and thrown away like trash.. literally. Left in a carrier beside a dumpster.

This scared little family was spotted by a staff member at a local business. After a call out for help, we stepped in and immediately went to get them.

Working on camera footage to see if we can catch who did this. This is not okay. This is illegal. Abandoning and leaving animals with no means to fend for themselves. If someone didn’t see them, they would have slowly perished, no food or water. Crammed in a small space. Absolutely disgusting nature of some human beings.

They are now safe and in a loving foster home. Thank you to those who care, those who reach out, those who don’t turn a blind eye.

Safe now ❤️

Newest little one ❤️

Found on the side of a highway outside of the city… with nothing nearby. All alone, scared, so young to be on their own, and cold in this rainy weather. Nearly being hit by vehicles on a very, very busy road.

Safe now. While actively searching for the rest of the family, we are just thankful this little one is safe and out of harms way. Praying we find the family, but we have to take the little wins of knowing we saved one. ❤️
