If you or someone you support is navigating AISH and ADAP right now, this might help.

CMHA-Edmonton is offering a free, plain-language course called Understanding AISH and ADAP. It covers eligibility, the application process, what to expect after applying, and practical strategies for income reporting and managing budgets.
Multiple dates through June - August, in person in Edmonton and online via Zoom.
It is free and open to people with disabilities, caregivers, and support workers.

To register, contact CMHA-Edmonton at [email protected]
We're sharing this because the gaps we've heard about in the comments deserve real resources where they exist. We hope this provides some answers.

You see what you want. You look at a cover, torn, scarred, and tattered.

But as any old book, the tales that are told. Do you care to read, flip through the worn pages. Some will be blacked out, others will shine as if brand new.

Some tales of mistakes, heart break, and sorrows.
Tales of happiness, joys, and love.
But none the less, a tale yet to be written.

Souls meant to fly among the stars. Love that shines brighter than the fullest of moons. A tale yet to be written. A tale that will give the world hope.

A book yet to be finished.
If you see this book lying in the gutter, would you pick it up and brush it off?

Could you imagine opening to the dedication, and seeing your name there.

Do you judge this book by an old cover and leave it alone. Maybe missing a story only written for us?

Three years ago today, we lost a father, husband, friend, and someone deeply loved by many.

Today, all of us at RISE ABOVE Mental Health & Community Supports Inc. are remembering Alex Smith and holding space for his wife, children, family, and everyone who continues to miss him.

Some losses never feel smaller, we simply learn to carry them differently.

As we remember Alex today, we also remember the importance of checking in, listening, and taking mental health seriously.

Conversations matter. Support matters. Being there for someone matters.

June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, and too many men still suffer quietly.

To the men reading this: You do not have to do this alone. Reach out. Talk. Let people in.

If you knew Alex, we invite you to share a memory, a photo, or a message of love for his family below 💜

And if you’re struggling today, please reach out. You are not alone.

PTSD AWARENESS MONTH 💙

Not all wounds leave scars you can see.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can affect anyone, first responders, survivors of violence, veterans, those who have experienced loss, accidents, childhood trauma, medical trauma, grief, and everyday people carrying experiences that changed them.

PTSD is not weakness.
It is not attention seeking.
It is not “just move on.”

Sometimes PTSD looks like anxiety. Sometimes exhaustion. Sometimes isolation. Sometimes always being on alert. Sometimes it looks like smiling while silently surviving.

At Rise Above Mental Health & Community Supports, we want to remind you of this:

Healing does not mean forgetting.
Healing does not mean pretending it never happened.

Healing means learning that your story does not end with what happened to you.

There is strength in reaching out.
There is courage in saying, “I’m not okay.”

There is power in letting people walk beside you.

If PTSD has touched your life, directly or indirectly, please know:
You are not too much.
You are not broken.
You are not alone.
