For many Canadians, homeownership is becoming something they’re preparing to live without.
A recent Habitat for Humanity survey found that 56% of non-homeowning Canadians don’t expect to ever own a home.
The cost of a typical home has increased dramatically over the past decade, while household incomes have grown at a much slower rate and the overall cost of living continues to rise. Creating a consensus among young Canadians that they will simply not have what previous generations believed to be a given.
At Habitat for Humanity Kingston Limestone Region, we believe affordable homeownership programs can be part of the solution. Our program is designed to help families overcome some of the structural barriers that make traditional homeownership inaccessible.
Housing affordability isn't just about houses. It's about opportunity, stability, and the ability to build a future.
