[email protected] As creative people, we constantly seek innovative ways to help our neighbors.

Our Optimist Club is composed of dynamic, motivated individuals who use their life skills to benefit their community’s needs, especially the needs of our youth. Our club enjoys autonomy, elects its Board of Directors and therefore has the opportunity to take the necessary decisions concerning arising issues. This authority also allows us to create and implement programs specific to the needs of youth in our community. We are then able to organize fundraisers that will help the community’s youth.

Last night our club wrapped up the end of the school year with our final school BBQ at Sutton Public School. Thank you to Keswick Public School, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School and Sutton Public School for inviting us to be part of your year end celebration.
We wish everyone a wonderful summer and look forward to supporting schools next year.

Our Junior Optimist Club met last night for our final all group meeting of this Optimist year. Our last meeting is June 8th with our monthly senior visit.

It has been a memorable 10 months spending Monday nights with this amazing group of incredible youth.

We will look to make plans to connect over the summer - perhaps host a fundraising car wash or go to the movies.

Last night we held our club elections, recognized member achievements, talked about plans for the upcoming year and celebrated with ice cream!

Last call for our Junior Optimist Golf Tournament for youth aged 9 to 18 taking okace Sunday June 7th at Orchard Beach Golf and Country Club. Tournament is open to all levels of players. Players that qualify will have the opportunity to advance to the District Tournament on June 13th at Caledon Country Club.

Our travel group that ventured to Paris is down to one day left on this memorable trip! Thank you to Routes Connecting Communities Inc. for getting 14 of our 22 travelers to the airport. Our first day we enjoyed a Tuk Tuk tour to a few of the must see places in Paris while we waited to board the boat. Once on board we have enjoyed great service and lots of excursions across the Seine River to Normandy. Tonight we enjoyed a Carbaret Show and saw the Eiffel Tower sparkle at midnight. Tomorrow, our last day in Paris, promises to be another busy day of making memories! Our Fall 2027 group tour experience is in the works. Departure day has finally arrived!
We are excited for our group of 22 who are headed to Paris for this group tour experience. 10 of the travelers are joining us for our 2nd trip organized by the club which is open to everyone across Canada and the US.

At last nights meeting we held our election for the upcoming Optimist Year. The optimist year (2026-2027) runs from October 1st to September 30th and we elect the leadership team for the upcoming Optimist Year at our May meeting. This timing gives the current Club President and the President Elect the opportunity to work together and ensure a seamless transition into the next year.

Looking for a fun day with family or friends, register today for the Aurora Optimist Club Road Rally happening May 23rd. Last year a team from our club had tons of fun driving through the streets of Aurora collecting points for taking photos, performing tasks and answering questions. It was a really great event to support the youth of Aurora!

Thank you to Mayor Quirk, CAO Mr. Cronsberry and Ward 1 Councilor Biggerstaff for providing our group a tour of the new Civic Centre for last nights meeting.
The group had lots of questions as they learned key details behind the names of meeting rooms, reviewed why it is important to be involved in the community and learned how topics are discussed at meetings.
The new building looks great and is ready to take on the next 50 years as Georgina continues to grow.
