A huge thank you to the 1st Sutton West Scout Group for their incredibly generous donation of flowers, herbs, and vegetables to our Community Garden! 🌱💚

We are so grateful to have you as a community partner, helping us grow something truly meaningful.

The Georgina Food Pantry Community Garden invites residents to celebrate, learn, and grow fresh produce together. Each gardener is provided with their own plot to grow fruits, vegetables, herbs, or flowers, while also benefiting from workshops, shared gardening knowledge, and access to our tool shed.

In 2025, two dozen gardeners participated in the program, while additional Pantry plots were cared for by dedicated student volunteers and our Lead Garden Volunteer. Together, more than 200 lbs of fresh produce was harvested for the Pantry last year!

Maintaining the garden each season takes ongoing resources, supplies, and community support. If you would like to donate garden tools or contribute funds to help the garden continue to thrive, please send us a message.

Together, we’re growing more than food — we’re growing community. 🌻

Throwback Thursday: Victoria Day Weekend Food Drive 💚

As we look back on our Victoria Day Weekend Food Drive, we're reminded of what an incredible community we have here in Georgina.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our volunteers, we collected:

🥫 3,348 lbs of food
💲 $12,186.72 worth of food donations
💚 $2,298.85 in monetary donations

Every can, box, bag, and dollar donated helped ensure local families had access to nutritious food when they needed it most.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our food drive locations, made a donation, or volunteered their time. Community support like this is what keeps our shelves stocked and our mission moving forward.

Together, we continue to prove that Georgina cares. 💚

💚 Volunteer of the Month – Risa 💚

We are delighted to recognize Risa as our next 'Volunteer of the Month'!

Risa has been volunteering with the Georgina Food Pantry since October 2012, and over the years she has contributed in just about every role imaginable. From helping with countless Food Drives to working in Receiving and serving as an Intake Volunteer, Risa has always been willing to step up wherever she is needed.

Each Wednesday, you'll find her helping with deliveries and stocking pet food. While Receiving is one of the most physically demanding jobs at the Pantry, Risa approaches it with enthusiasm and a smile. She often describes the Pantry as her "happy place," and her positive attitude is felt by everyone around her.

Risa also played a key role in creating our Pet Food Program. Recognizing that many clients struggle to care for their beloved pets during difficult times, she approached the Executive Director with the idea of providing pet food support. Today, that program continues to grow and helps families care for their furry companions each month.

Perhaps most inspiring is the example Risa sets for her family and community. She hopes her grandchildren will learn that giving your time to help others is one of the most rewarding ways to build character and strengthen a community.

Thank you, Risa, for your dedication, compassion, and more than a decade of service. We are so grateful to have you as part of the Georgina Food Pantry family. 💚👏

We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to Andrew Conway from Fairwood Public School in Keswick!

As part of a “pay it forward” initiative, Andrew chose to organize a school-wide food drive in support of the Georgina Food Pantry. Thanks to his incredible efforts, 267lbs of food was collected — equal to a value of $971.88!

What an amazing way to give back to your neighbours and make a difference in our community. Your kindness and leadership are truly inspiring, Andrew! 👏💚🧡
