We have the BEST volunteers, don’t we?! 🙌

Today, we’re giving a big shoutout to Mickey, one of our wonderful volunteers, who put his creativity and resourcefulness to work by building shelves for our Special Diet Hampers using spare wood we already had in the warehouse! 🔨🪵

Our Special Diet Hampers help accommodate food allergies and specific dietary restrictions, ensuring we can better meet the unique needs of the diverse community we serve. Having the right storage helps us stay organized and make sure we can continue providing this important support to our neighbours. 💚

Not only did Mickey help us create much-needed storage, but he found a clever way to make use of materials we already had on hand. Talk about resourcefulness!

It’s volunteers like Mickey who make such a difference at Georgina Food Pantry. Whether it’s lending a helping hand, sharing a skill, or coming up with a creative solution, every act of kindness helps us better serve our community.

Thank you, Mickey, for your ingenuity, hard work, and for being such an amazing part of our team! 👏

💚 A BIG THANK YOU TO YRP HEADQUARTERS! 💚

A huge shoutout to the staff at York Regional Police (YRP) Headquarters for participating in a Thanksgiving Food Drive in support of the Georgina Food Pantry!

Last week, Cathryn and Sina dropped off an incredible 551 lbs of food, valued at $2,044.21! 🥫👏

But the kindness didn’t stop there! 🧀 When Cathryn heard about our Children’s Breakfast Hamper Program, she ran next door to No Frills and purchased a dozen bricks of cheese because she knew they were on sale! Talk about going the extra mile! 💚

These thoughtful gestures make a real difference for local families and help ensure children in our community have access to nutritious food to start their day.

To the staff at YRP Headquarters, Cathryn, and Sina — thank you for your generosity, compassion, and for showing what it means to support our neighbours. We are so grateful to have you in our corner! 💚

💛 A Teachable Moment: Let’s Keep Our Community Fridge Thriving! 💛

This past weekend, we received a report of unsupervised children throwing and smashing food from our community fridge and pantry. While we don’t know who was involved, we are incredibly grateful to our wonderful volunteers and Town staff who took the time to clean everything up.

We’d like to take this opportunity to turn this into a teachable moment.

Please take a few minutes to talk with your children about the purpose of this initiative and the importance of the community fridge to so many people in Georgina. For some of our neighbours, this fridge provides access to food when they need it most. Every item inside represents someone’s generosity and an opportunity to help someone in our community.

Let’s spread the word, far and wide, to our young people and our not-so-young people, too! 😊 Together, we can help everyone understand the value of this initiative and do our part to keep it growing, thriving, and making a positive difference.

This Thanksgiving, our hearts are full of gratitude for the incredible community that makes our work possible.

To our dedicated staff, volunteers, board members, community supporters, generous donors, food drive organizers, grocery partners, and clients — thank you for being part of our Georgina Food Pantry family. Every act of kindness, every donation, every food drive, and every helping hand makes a difference.

We are so grateful to be part of such a wonderful community. Thank you for standing alongside us, helping keep our neighbours fed and our neighbourhoods thriving. 💛

To everyone who contributed to our Harvest of Hope Thanksgiving Campaign, we are truly blown away by your generosity and support. You have reminded us what is possible when a community comes together with compassion and a shared commitment to caring for one another.

🌟 VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH: ANGIE CADER! 🌟

This month, we’re honoured to celebrate Angie Cader, an incredible volunteer who has been part of the Georgina Food Pantry family for nearly 11 years! ❤️

Angie’s journey with the Pantry began with a simple invitation to put her home on the Tour of Homes — and from there, it grew into a lasting commitment to helping our community. From helping organize the Tour of Homes and unforgettable fundraising dinners, to doing dishes (apparently, she always ended up on dish duty! 😉), Angie has truly done it all!

Over the years, Angie has been an intake volunteer, shopping assistant, sorter, packer, potato counter and bagger, food delivery volunteer, and so much more. 🥔❤️

And when COVID-19 brought unprecedented challenges to our community, Angie was one of a small group of volunteers who stepped forward. She delivered food, worked three days a week at the Pantry, and did whatever was needed to keep food moving to neighbours who depended on it. Through an incredibly difficult time, she brought something that mattered just as much as the work itself — a smile, kindness and a willingness to help.

Angie says being named Volunteer of the Month is a huge honour, made even more meaningful by the many wonderful volunteers, staff and friends she has met along the way. She especially wants to share this honour with the volunteers who stood beside her during those challenging COVID years — friendships she says will last a lifetime. 💚

Angie reminds us that volunteering isn’t just about what you give. It’s about the people you meet, the friendships you build, and the community you create together.

Angie, thank you for 11 years of laughter, hard work, friendship and heart. We are so grateful for everything you’ve done — and continue to do — for Georgina Food Pantry and our neighbours.

🚔🥕 Going above and beyond duty! 🥔🧅

A heartfelt thank you to the York Region Police team, in partnership with The Children's Breakfast Clubs, for going above and beyond to help ensure families in our community feel the warmth of a full table this Thanksgiving. 🧡

The YRP team travelled all the way down to the Ontario Food Terminal in Toronto to stock our shelves with an incredible selection of fresh, pre-packaged produce bundles, courtesy of The Children's Breakfast Clubs!

These bundles are packed with nutritious goodness, including potatoes, carrots, squash, broccoli, onions, eggplant, garlic, lemons, cucumber, spinach, mushrooms and more! 🍋🥦🥕🍄

Your generosity will help put fresh, healthy food on the tables of local families this Thanksgiving—and we are so grateful for the care and commitment you’ve shown to our community.
