Long before q***r artists were celebrated on mainstream stages, Tegan and Sara Quin were openly identifying as q***r from the very moment they introduced their music to the world.

Twin sisters from Calgary who turned personal truth into chart-topping anthems. In 2016, they founded the Tegan and Sara Foundation to advocate for economic justice, health, and representation for LGBTQ2S+ girls and women.

They never asked for permission to take up space. And because of that, a whole generation didn't have to either. 🖤🍁

It’s happening!!!!

Tomorrow is the day. Pride Georgina has been a labour of love, built by an incredible group of people who believed this community deserved something special. One more sleep and we get to celebrate together. We can’t wait to see you there.

Mark Tewksbury became a national hero when he won the 100m backstroke gold medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Canada's first gold medal of the Games. But what he did six years later took an entirely different kind of courage.

In December 1998, he became the first Canadian athlete to voluntarily come out as gay and subsequently lost a six-figure contract as a motivational speaker for being "too openly gay." He came out anyway.

In 2020, Mark was appointed Companion of the Order of Canada, the nation's highest civilian honour. From the podium to the podium, he showed up fully, every single time. 🖤🍁
