Valley Regional Hospital Foundation

Valley Regional Hospital Foundation Enhancing healthcare in our Annapolis Valley community. Our Foundation works on behalf of you and your family to enhance healthcare at Valley Regional Hospital.

At times we partner with other Foundations and Auxiliaries in the Annapolis Valley to ensure residents have access to the best health care possible by providing up-to-date equipment that supports the services offered through the hospital. Through the generosity of thousands of donors, our Foundation has provided over $16 million to improve health care for residents of Kings and Annapolis Counties.

Beginning with the first campaign to raise $8 million to build Valley Regional Hospital in 1992, funds raised since then have helped purchase equipment to improve regional health services such as diagnositc imaging, cardiac, medical, chemotherapy, orthopaedic, mental health, surgical and maternal & child. The Annapolis Valley Health District provides health care services for approximately 80,000 residents of Kings and Annapolis Counties.

Valley Regional Hospital has incredible healthcare teams!!!
Read the article below to find out how Kentville’s Valley Regional Hospital, Abbie Loughran, Abby Dauphinee and Karlee McGuigan, sprang into action on a flight bound for Toronto when medical services were needed.

When a fellow passenger lost consciousness 15 minutes into a flight to Toronto, three Nova Scotia Health nurses from Kentville’s Valley Regional Hospital, Abbie Loughran, Abby Dauphinee and Karlee McGuigan, sprang into action.

Working in tight quarters with no tourniquet or medical tape, they relied on pure nursing ingenuity (including improvising with a hand-made tourniquet and duct tape) to start an IV, monitor vitals and keep the passenger stable until landing.

Once paramedics took over in Ontario, the trio, bound for bachelorette festivities in Toronto, returned to their regularly scheduled fun-filled programming.

🎥Drive-In Movie Tips!! 🍿

Valley Regional Hospital Foundation is going to the big screen this Thursday, August 13 with Dennis the Menace (1993) for some 90s summer fun! 💫

Here’s our top tips for having the best night under the stars!!
1. Gates open at 7pm. Arrive early for the best spots! Do you like to be by the canteen & washrooms? Or front row? Maybe you like the back row?
The movie starts when the sun goes down!
2. Bring a battery powered radio 📻 You won’t have to run your vehicle (and avoid running its battery, or deal with headlights)

3. Do you work or volunteer for NSH? Show your badge at the gate and get a $5 voucher for the canteen? Popcorn always tastes better when it’s on us! 🍿🥤🍟

4. Bring an extra $5 to get your 50/50 tickets 🎟️
You could walk away a winner and support your local regional hospital for new equipment and patient support programs ❤️🏥🥰

5. Bring your cozy blankets! Make yourself comfy and enjoy the show 🎥🤩✨

Ater a hospital visit, patients and families often reflect on two things:
1. the care they received, and
2. the food!

Valley Regional’s Food Services team has the large task of feeding patients and serving the cafeteria, while adhering to special diets and maintaining quality. And they do an incredible job of keeping up with the task!

Thanks to our generous donors, the Foundation was able to support the purchase of two new Steam Jackets.

These energy-efficient replacements allow for precise, hands-off cooking, freeing up staff from consistently monitoring. By reducing food waste and improving meal quality, this will help support both the Food Services team to continue to deliver top-notch meals and also improve patient satisfaction.

Thank you, Annapolis Valley, for the support in enhancing healthcare in all areas of the hospital ❤️🍽️
