Eligibility - Could My Organization Get A Community Grant?

It's important that submitted projects meet our basic eligibility criteria in order to be considered. In brief, this means your project must:

☑️ Serve one or more of the communities in the Columbia Valley (full list on our website)
☑️ Be submitted by a registered non-profit society or registered charity *Grants to organizations that are not registered charities or listed municipalities may be subject to additional reporting requirements.
☑️ Address one of the needs categories: Environment/Climate, Food & Agriculture, Health & Wellness, Belonging & Quality of Life, Housing, Getting Around/ Transportation, Learning, Safety
☑️ Provide a detailed project plan (including budget)
☑️ Be willing to sign a grant agreement and submit reporting

On this upcoming Truth and Reconciliation Day, we are taking the time to acknowledge the harms caused by residential schools, and taking responsibility for our role in helping this community create a brighter future.

For more ways to honour and support the continued resilience of Indigenous groups in our community, everyone is invited to join the Shuswap Band at James Chabot Beach at 10am and then the ʔAkisq̓nuk First Nation at the ʔAkisq̓nuk Band Hall at 2pm September 30th.

🫛🍅 Community Foundations like ours can help address critical local issues that need timely solutions, while also considering long-term strategies to address them.

With respect to food insecurity, CVCF supports a coupon program to help vulnerable families buy healthy local food at farmer's markets, as well as systemic solutions like building our community's food recovery capacity.

🙋‍♀️❓ What local needs were addressed by our Community Grants in 2025?

This chart measures the disbursements of our largest granting program against needs that were identified during the most recent Vital Signs report. Every year, we seek a balance between needs identified by the community and the strength of the applications we receive to determine which projects are funded.

🥗 🥪 One reason to support Community Foundations is that they can help tackle big issues by funding a wide variety of organizations. This year's Annual Report feature on food insecurity highlights how the JA Laird Healthy Lunch Program, Farmer’s Market Coupon Program, Roots to Resources, and Nourish - Reusable Packaging all take different approaches to make a difference.
