We are looking for donations, please read below for more information!

Who are we?
The Lake Windermere District Rod & Gun Club is more than a range to shoot at, this club not only has many places to do that, but we are also involved in conservation work in our beautiful Columbia Valley to help preserve and protect the animals, plants and habitats. Some of our work includes: building and installing swallow nesting cups and goose nesting boxes, noxious w**d control, installing turtle basking logs in the wetlands, and maintaining picnic/campground recreation sites. Our proud club also oversaw the replacement of a culvert in the Ben Able Creek creating a gravel bed where 50,000 Kokanee salmon fish eggs will hopefully be placed for 8 years, in hopes of restoring the Salmon run numbers!

What do we offer?
We have a whole range, literally, of fun for the family and fun for all ages. Our range features a shotgun range, a rifle range, a pellet range, a beautiful campground (free for all members), as well as an archery range with a static range and a fun 3D course. In the winter we even have an ice fishing shack on the beautiful Lake Windermere for people to use! We put on many events in a year to get people out in nature and try new things, such as: Family Fish Days, Chili Night, Family Fun Day, Fishing Forever, a Turkey Shoot, the Bighorn Archery Shoot, the Elmer Fudd Shoot and more!

What’re we looking for from you today?
We are looking for sponsors for our bucket draw prizes at our upcoming Bighorn 3D Archery Shoot event (July 4th + 5th 2026)! 100% of the proceeds raised off our bucket draws will be going directly back into the club to maintain our property! We are all volunteers and run off of our events to keep up on range maintenance, supplies and equipment!

If this sounds like something you and/or your company are interested in donating money towards our wishlist or donating something from your business, please reach out to Kaitlynn Baes to discuss more!

Sincerely,
Kaitlynn Baes

Congratulations on the Ted Barsby Award Rick!!! Well deserved

The BCWF Ted Barsby Conservationist of the Year recognizes and honours an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to conservation in B.C.

Veteran B.C. Conservation Officer Rick Hoar is this year’s winner. Hoar worked for 32 years as a Conservation Officer and then dedicated his retirement to projects benefiting wildlife in and around the Columbia Valley, including the installation of a wildlife overpass on Highway 93 to reduce wild sheep fatalities.

Rick grew up in a rural community and graduated from BCIT in 1974 with diplomas in Fish, Wildlife & Recreation and in Forestry, subjects that would inform his entire life.

Early in his career, he was posted to Creston, where he was involved in enforcement, with investigations often requiring court appearances. He later transferred to the Queen Charlotte Islands where he spent four years. Hoar was the only CO for all 300 islands in the archipelago and worked on habitat and fisheries with provincial biologists. During his posting, the South Moresby National Park Reserve was declared.

He moved back to the Kootenays where he dealt with a massive volume of hunter and angler compliance checks.

In retirement, Rick dedicated his time to wildlife projects with the Lake Windermere District Rod & Gun Club, from installing basking logs for turtles to supporting local bat and swallow populations.
