Dolly Parton’s love for animals and her willingness to use her voice and platform to advocate mattered.

Animal advocacy doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. Every person who speaks up, raises awareness, shows compassion, and encourages others to care helps make this world a kinder place.

We will always celebrate those who choose to use their voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Waylon’s Such a GOOD BOY! 🤎 Donate to his care in our Bio.

For most of his life, Waylon had a pretty serious case of only child syndrome. 😂 He had fence friends, but I was really his companion, and sharing food or space was definitely not his strong suit.

But look at him now. 🥹

Waylon is learning what it means to be part of a herd — sharing his food, respecting everyone’s space and simply enjoying life alongside his friends.

No kicking. No naughtiness. Just Waylon learning how to be a donkey in a herd. 🫏🤎

Ontario is in a crisis. Rescues and shelters are overwhelmed, fosters are desperately needed, and far too many dogs are waiting for someone to give them a chance.

They’re not just dogs. They’re lives. They feel fear, comfort, love, loneliness and safety — and right now, so many of them need us.

Foster if you can. Adopt. Donate. Share their stories. And above all, have compassion.

Because to them, we might be their only chance. 🐾🤍

What a beautiful morning at the sanctuary. 🖤🌿

A huge thank you to Megan for guiding us through our practice today and for continuing to give her time and heart to our little sanctuary.

And thank you to everyone who came out — from new faces to familiar ones. This year has been a hard one at times, and days like today remind us why we keep doing this work.

Seeing people come through our gates, meet the animals and support what we do reminds us that people care, these animals matter, and this work matters.

Thank you for showing up for them. 🤍

🌱 Garden update! 🌱

One of the best parts of growing food at the sanctuary is that it feeds more than just us. 🐐🐷🐔

As we harvest our summer vegetables, so much of what comes out of the garden goes right back to the animals. Fresh greens, trimmings, and veggies that aren’t quite perfect become healthy treats for the residents who call the sanctuary home. Nothing goes to waste!

This week we’re also starting our succession sowing—pulling mature crops and planting the next round to keep the garden producing into the fall. 🍅🥕🥬

Growing our own food helps stretch every donation a little further, provides enrichment for the animals, and reminds us that everything here is connected. Every seed planted helps feed our sanctuary family.

Just because the smoke is no longer affecting us doesn’t mean it isn’t devastating someone else.

• 190+ wildfires remain active across Ontario.
• 735,000+ hectares of forest have burned this season in Ontario.
• Firefighters continue battling active fires across Northern Ontario.
• Countless wild animals have lost habitat, food sources, shelter, & their lives.

Please don’t let this become out of sight, out of mind.

If you’re able, consider supporting organizations collecting supplies for wildfire relief. Donations of non-perishable food, bottled water, pet food, livestock feed, and other requested essentials can help both people and animals affected by these fires.

The story isn’t over. Let’s stay informed, show compassion, and support those who need it most. 🖤

2026 has tested our hearts in ways we never expected.

It has felt like one hurdle after another.

By the time our annual beach trip came around, I honestly couldn’t wait for the break. I needed to step away from the farm. The emotional weight that comes with this life, my heart felt completely worn out.

Dropping Gumby off before we left, and then taking Waylon to begin his beautiful new chapter with our friends at Carlisle Creek, were both the right decisions—but that doesn’t make them any easier. Leaving for the beach right afterward meant we were carrying all of that with us. We came home knowing the farm would feel different.

But the beach gave us exactly what we needed—a chance to breathe, reset, laugh with our family, and remind ourselves that it’s okay to pause. It didn’t erase the emotions waiting for us at home, but it gave us the strength to come back and keep going.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support us, encourage us, and understand that behind every post is a family doing their best to love, care for, and advocate for the animals we love. ❤️
