We started National Volunteer Week with posts about some of our wonderful knitters ~ and we are closing the week with this post about some of our magnificent quilters and sewers!

One of these many amazing groups is the Hamilton Quilters Guild (also known as the Cuddle Quilts Group).

They have been doing this for so many years, we have actually lost count ~ making post-surgical breast pillows and, more recently, eye masks to help patients relax under the right lights of hospital and treatment rooms.

A big shout out to these Queens of Quilts: Margaret Varga, Linda Murray, Linda Robinson, Carole Battersby, Pam Smith and Kathy Sukovich.

To ALL our volunteers ~ past, present and future ~ your gifts are important, valued and appreciated. Thank you ALL ~ for ALL you do!

Yesterday, we posted about Wellwood volunteer🌻🌻 and the emotional presentation to honour her 20th year of service to our clients and community.🌻

Then, we saw her post. Now, we want you to see it, too.

The inspiration of love, loss and legacy.💛

Today, staff had the privilege of presenting Wellwood volunteer, Diana Oddi, with a small gesture of appreciation to celebrate her major milestone of 20 years with Wellwood.

Diana talked about the journey that led her to this work with us ~ making it an emotional, memorable and special day for all of us. “Words can’t express how much the Wellwood family means to me,” she shared.

Diana has been a longtime member of the program committee, playing a key role as planner and moderator for our educational series lectures and fireside chats.

Our 20 year old volunteer recognition gift is a small sunflower painting by local artist, Michelle Guitard. The image has always represented the hope and resilience that are pillars of this safe, special space, and the wonderful people that create community here.

Warmest appreciation to you, Diana ~ for all you do.

It’s National Volunteer Week, and we are rolling out the gratitude around here!!!

Every day this week, when a volunteer arrives for their shift, there is a 🎶”sign, sign ~ everywhere a sign”🎶 ~ telling them how wonderful they are.

We appreciate their talent and generosity. And we also appreciate Karla, manager of volunteer engagement ~ and resident energizer bunny.
