No cost support programs, navigation, resources ~ at two locations, hospital & community.

Wellwood is a community-based, non-profit organization which provides information, supportive care programs and peer support to people who have received a diagnosis of cancer, their families and caregivers, and healthcare providers. Working with existing community agencies and cancer care providers, Wellwood aims to provide integrative supportive care. Everything we offer is absolutely free of charge.

Last week, our Manager of Programs, Chance Faïda, spent some time with local youth, sharing her career journey and talking about the path that brought her to Wellwood.

Chance was invited by HIEC’s French Program for a session hosted at Les Petites Pommes.

It was a lovely opportunity to connect with young people, answer their questions, and offer a glimpse into what a career in community-based work can look like.

Volunteer at Wellwood’s 28th Annual Walk/Run/Wheel!

We’re looking for Race Marshals to help guide and cheer on participants on Sunday, October 18 at McMaster University.

Volunteers can take part standing or seated. Students can also earn volunteer hours, and all volunteers receive Wellwood swag.

Many of the most meaningful moments at our annual Walk/Run/Wheel involve the teams that gather to honour a loved one. We are so grateful.

Team “Liv Out Loud” was created in 2015, in memory of 19-year-old Olivia. Her family had already been participating in the race for years. (That’s little Livi in the photo, wearing white.) Every year since she died, this team has participated in her memory.

Her mom, Belinda, says “We gather to celebrate our guardian angel, Olivia. Grief is a process, not an event. I am grateful for all of the friends and family who have companioned us through this journey.”

This year, they will once again travel the path together, with love ~ and Liv ~ in their hearts.
