Across the country, recreation facilities are facing the growing challenge of aging infrastructure, and aquatic facilities are certainly no exception. Here in Nova Scotia, many pools are dealing with aging systems, increasing maintenance needs and with that, the difficult decisions around repair, renewal and long-term sustainability.

This is an important conversation for our sector, and we strongly encourage facility managers, operators and recreation professionals to join us for this upcoming webinar. It’s a great opportunity to better understand the condition of our aquatic facilities, what to be watching for, and how we can plan more proactively for the future

State of Good Repair: Understanding the Condition of Our Aquatic Facilities

On October 21, Tim Hamel of Aquatic Associates Inc. will present State of Good Repair: Understanding the Condition of Our Aquatic Facilities, taking a closer look at preventative maintenance planning and how operators can better understand and manage the condition of aging pools and aquatic facilities.

With the increase in severe weather events across Nova Scotia and throughout the country, the role of recreation facilities in emergency response is becoming an increasingly important conversation.

Recreation facilities are often called on to support communities during emergencies but what does that mean for the people operating those facilities? What are the roles and responsibilities of facility operators when a site is activated, and what should be considered before, during and after an emergency response?

Join RFANS, the Nova Scotia Department of Emergency Management and the Canadian Red Cross on **Tuesday, November 10 from 1:30–3:00 p.m.** for a practical discussion focused on what facility operators need to know.

This is a conversation happening at recreation facility tables across the country, and one that continues to be top of mind for our sector.

ABOUT THE NAME

As part of the anonymous donation agreement, the donor was invited to select a name for the new pool – they chose The Big Splash, which conveys the fun, energy, and excitement we know that swimmers of all ages will feel when they arrive at the facility and get to experience their first swim.
