Subject: Human Rights Remedy Evaluation – Your Voice Matters!

People with disabilities, including people who receive support through the Disability Support Program (DSP), and their family members and supporters are invited to participate in the Human Rights Remedy Evaluation.

The Human Rights Remedy (also called 'the Remedy') is a plan to reduce discrimination against people with disabilities in Nova Scotia. Evaluation means finding out what is working well and not working as well with the Remedy. It also means checking to see if the changes are making a difference for people with disabilities.

We want to hear from people with disabilities and their families and supporters about their experiences with the Remedy. Your feedback will help shape how the Remedy is implemented.

There are two ways for you to participate in the evaluation:

1. Complete a Survey:

Families/Supporters: https://questionnaire.simplesurvey.com/f/r/Families

You can complete the surveys until Saturday, November 21, 2026.

2. Participate in a Virtual Focus Group: https://questionnaire.simplesurvey.com/f/r/FGregistration

People with disabilities and their families will receive a $50 honorarium to participate in a 90-minute virtual focus group. Accessibility supports are available.

• Tuesday, November 10, 1:00 to 2:30 pm
• Friday, November 13, 10:30 am to 12:00 pm

The evaluation of the Remedy is a required part of the changes that are happening. It is being done by a team from Research Power Inc. and Cape Breton University. People with disabilities are also part of the evaluation team.

🍽️ 10 Halifax Restaurants Worth Knowing for Food Allergies & Dietary Restrictions

Eating out with allergies or dietary restrictions can take a little more planning, so I pulled together 10 Halifax spots with gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, nut-free or other allergy-aware options.

Some are especially good for gluten-free dining, while others are known for helping customers navigate ingredients and substitutions.

A few important notes before you go:
• “Nut-free option” does not mean a nut-free kitchen.
• Some restaurants use peanuts, tree nuts or other major allergens on site.
• Menus and preparation methods can change.
• If you have celiac disease or a severe allergy, always tell staff before ordering and ask about cross-contact.
