🏊♀️ COACH SPOTLIGHT: Meet Coach Allison! 🏊♀️
Born and raised in Clinton, Coach Allison grew up swimming with HHAC before swimming with the Golden Gaels at Queen’s University. After 10 years in Goderich, she’s excited to be back on the pool deck as a coach!
She’s a professor in the Faculty of Education at Western University, a mom to two HHAC swimmers, and a municipal councillor for the Town of Goderich. Outside of swimming, she enjoys travelling, gardening, reading, and spending time with family.
Why HHAC?
Her swimming journey started when her mom signed her up after she sat on the ice and cried when she thought she might enjoy figure skating! 😂 She’s been finding her way back to HHAC ever since—from volunteering as a coach to returning to the pool deck when her own kids started swimming.
“Swimming has been such a constant in my life, and HHAC is an incredible community!”
Favourite memories:
Purple hair🤷♀️at Division III Team Championships, team dinners, road trips, hotel stays, and countless meet memories—but most importantly, the friendships. Many of the friends she made through HHAC and Queen’s are still close friends today.
Favourite strokes: 🏊♀️
Long-distance freestyle & breaststroke. Definitely not a sprinter! 😜
Goals this year: 👏
To create a strong sense of belonging, fun, and connection for our swimmers and a collaborative, supportive coaching team.
For Coach Allison, swimming is about more than times and medals. It’s about the journey, the friendships, the challenges, and discovering what you’re capable of.
Fun fact: 🍫 Chocolate should be considered the fifth food group!
Her love of swimming has also led to triathlons and road and trail running. She completed her first marathon in 2024—further proof she’s still not a sprinter! 😂🏃♀️
💜 We’re so excited to have Coach Allison back on the pool deck in her new role as Head Coach! 💜
