June is Pride Month and the Pride Flag was raised on the South Huron Community Flag Pole following a request from Huron County Pride.

“This month, we honour and celebrate the work and inclusion of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Starting as a social justice movement in the late 1960s/early 1970s, generations of 2SLGBTQIA+ people and allies have advocated for, educated about, and celebrated q***r identity, equality, and joy. The symbol of the Pride Flag is a visible reminder of our commitment to ensuring that people of every sexual orientation and gender identity/expression are welcome and included in our communities. During Pride Month, and every day, we continue to commit to this important work.”

Come kick off Pride Month with Huron County Pride! On Monday June 1, we will be at both Goderich and Exeter to mark the start of Pride Month, celebrating the work of inclusion in our communities. We thank the municipalities in Huron County which have declared June to be Pride Month and will be displaying the Pride Flag.

Last but certainly not least in our Pride Week lineup, we are finishing the week with two events on June 7th!

Celebrate Pride in two inclusive worship services led by Rev. Alex Jebson, minister at Blyth and Brussels United Churches, and Chairperson of Huron County Pride. During these services, we will celebrate Blyth and Brussels United Churches officially becoming Affirming Congregations, an official designation and commitment to being 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming communities. All are welcome as we reflect on the power of love, spirit, and community.

PLUS! Join us for Bayfield’s Fourth Annual Pride Walk. Meet at the pavilion in Clan Gregor Square at 11:00 a.m. for a walk along the Heritage Trail. Show your pride, support diversity, and take in the beautiful views of Bayfield.
