You’re invited to our Open House on Sunday, May 3! YMCA Camp Elphinstone is welcoming all families to come take a free tour of our 144-acre camp property, see all of the activities we have to offer and enjoy a couple of snacks from our kitchen. It’s a great way for first-time campers to get a feel for the camp setting before they arrive this summer, for returning campers to show off their favourite parts of camp, or for families to decide which camp program suits their camper best before registering!

All of us at YMCA Camp Elphinstone would like to express our appreciation to the Sunshine Coast Foundation for its continued support of our camp programming! This year, the Foundation provided a generous grant from the YMCA Camp Elphinstone Youth Development Fund that will allow our team to upgrade or obtain new climbing equipment. This endowment, kindly established by the late Mary Gordon, exists to provide campers with leadership and skill-building opportunities, and we’re grateful to receive this grant that will immediately enhance their experience on our climbing wall.

Work with us at YMCA Camp Elphinstone and help children and youth make lasting memories! We are currently hiring for an Assistant Summer Camp Manager to join our enthusiastic and dedicated staff team. In this role, the Assistant Summer Camp Manager will be responsible for a number of key areas including:

✔️ Overseeing and maintaining a high-quality camper experience, ensuring all programming aligns with the camp’s mission and values.

✔️ Communicating with parents/guardians and liaising with summer partnership and
international groups.

✔️ Supporting and guiding a large team of 110-130 staff and volunteers, including
counsellors, program staff, and supervisors.

✔️ Assisting with recruitment, hiring, coaching, and leading a team committed to
building a strong, inclusive, camper-focused culture.

✔️ Ensuring all program areas meet applicable standards (YMCA, BCCA, Lifesaving
Society, Paddle Canada, etc.)

✔️ Collaboratively managing day-to-day camp operations, ensuring consistency and
alignment across all areas.

Our first YMCA Camp Alumni Program get-together is quickly approaching! Join us for the Alumni Picnic & BBQ on July 20 at the Ceperley Park picnic shelter—located near Second Beach inside Vancouver’s Stanley Park. We welcome all past campers and staff from YMCA Camps Elphinstone, Deka and Howdy for a great day of camp memories and reconnections between friends. Alumni are invited to bring their families, lawn chairs, swimsuits and non-alcoholic drinks as we meet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The YMCA will set up a shared BBQ station with plates, utensils, condiments and everything you need to enjoy a meal outdoors!
