These amazing junior cadets (ages 9 - 12) are building confidence, leadership, and teamwork, and this fundraiser helps support their program right here in our community.

βš“ A Special Piece of Navy League Cadet History βš“

This week, Navy League Cadet Corps 254 (Kenneth Grant) was honoured with a truly meaningful gift and gesture of support.

Lt. Dave McLennan (Ret’d), representing the Texada Legion Branch 232-Admin Tyrone Bannick, along with President John Redekop, presented our corps with a special paddle originally created in 1970 by President Redekop’s sister, Nina. Nina was a Wrenette, PO 2nd Class, and the paddle beautifully showcases the Wrenette badge - a definite work of art and an important piece of our shared history.

We are also incredibly grateful to the Texada Island Legion Branch 232 for their generous $1,000 donation to support our program costs. Community support like this helps keep our Navy League Cadet program strong and thriving πŸ’™

For those unfamiliar, the Wrenettes were members of the Navy League Wrenette Corps, a youth organization established in Canada in 1950 for girls interested in naval affairs. In 1975, boys and girls were integrated into one corps, and today all cadets benefit from everything this incredible program offers.

πŸ“ Interested in joining?
Navy League Cadets meet Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Gibsons Legion Hall.

πŸ“žFor more information, please contact CO Alta Skellenger at 778-855-6249.

Thank you again to the Texada Island Legion for honouring our past and supporting the future of our cadets. βš“πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦
