Each year your Parks and Recreation Commission awards grants to local groups to support Galiano Island recreation. 2026 was a record-breaking year, with requests exceeding funds by over 33% and seven new groups seeking funds.

Thank you to all the islanders past and present who build recreation activities to share with islanders of all ages. Watch this space, or follow social media accounts on Galiano to learn how to join in the fun. The recent archery event at the Galiano Rod and Gun (attended by over 100 islanders) and the upcoming square dancing at the Lion's Hall are just two examples of the quality recreation opportunities offered out here in the Salish Sea.

Have Fun Galiano.

The opportunity to watch our resident and visiting whales is one of the best things about Galiano Island. There are many great spots to watch these great creatures from shore, including Bellhouse Provincial Park and our very own Shore Access 33-Cayzer where these stunning humpbacks came by last week.

Galiano Shore Accesses marked with Whale Trail signage are your best bets.
