A great new program!!!!!

Come be part of our new community program!

We all have times when we are unwell and unable to cook a healthy meal, so the culture program wants to ensure that our elders are taken care of when they feel under the weather!

We will have a list of community members who are willing to make a fresh, homecooked meal for those who may need it for a few days. With many people contributing and taking care of one another we can make sure that eveyone knows that we care at the Kookums Care Kitchen!! Our AGM is an opportunity to come together as a community, share a meal, learn more about what’s happening at the Edson Friendship Centre, and have a voice in where we go from here.

🥧 Who wants the title of "BEST PIE MAKER" in Edson?????? 🥧

Here is your chance!! We are hosting an Edson Friendship Centre Pie Making Contest and we invite competitors to sign up and bring out their best pies for judging!!

🥇 🥇 Contestants will be judged by a panel of community members and will hold bragging rights to the title for one year!!!

We welcome community members, families and organizations to join us in the fun evening! As well as the pie contest, we will be hosting mini pie making for the kids, 🎃 pumpkin carving and judging, supper (and of course, pie for dessert!), and a few other activities for kids. Come and join us in welcoming mithoskamin!

Today, members of the Edson Friendship Centre team joined our community for a special Truth and Reconciliation Ride hosted by HYPE Spin Studio. 🧡

The ride was open to the community, and we were especially touched by the generosity of a community member who donated bikes so that some of our staff and volunteers could take part alongside those who joined personally.

In honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, HYPE generously donated $10 from every bike booked in today’s ride back to the Edson Friendship Centre.

During the ride, our instructor spoke about one simple but powerful word: hope.
Hope that we continue to learn.
Hope that we continue to grow.
Hope that we continue to listen.
And hope for meaningful and lasting reconciliation.

Reconciliation is not only about one day of the year when we wear orange shirts. It is about what we do every day of the year.

It is not the work of one person, organization, or community. It is something we move toward together—through learning, listening, building relationships, and creating space for Indigenous voices, experiences, cultures, and histories.

Today was a beautiful example of what community can look like. We are incredibly grateful to HYPE Spin Studio for their thoughtfulness in recognizing this important day, to the community member whose generosity helped more of our team participate, and to everyone who showed up and rode alongside us.

It is through relationships, continued learning, acts of kindness, and community partnerships like these that we strengthen our community and continue the work of reconciliation—not just today, but every day.

Today, we rode with hope. 🧡

🧡 We invite our community to continue honouring the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with us this evening at Galloway Station Museum from 6:00–8:00 PM. We hope you’ll join us as we come together as a community to reflect, learn, and honour.
