The mandate of the EDRS is to educate on the 3Rs and wise use of our environment, provide people of Edson and area the opportunity to recycle, and to provide public input into municipal and provincial waste management. The Edson and District Recycling Society formed on January 8, 1990 with the mandate to:
• Provide education on reusing, recycling and the wise use of our environment.
• Provide the people and business community of Edson and district with the opportunity to recycle.
• Provide public input into municipal and provincial waste management.
• The Society Philosophies are:
– A healthy, fully functioning environment is essential to our social and economic well being.
– The rate of waste production must not be greater than the rate that our world can reuse / recycle it.
– Every individual in our community should have the opportunity and the responsibility to minimize their waste production.
– Community actions taken to reduce wastes must be sustainable, or lead to more sustainable actions. The ongoing partnerships between the Edson District Recycling Society, Yellowhead County and the Town of Edson recognize the strong responsibility that municipalities have to promote effective waste reduction and recycling programs in our region. Partnerships within the community help to reduce costs, enhance environmental educational and help to spread the "ownership" of the depot throughout the community.

UPDATE: we are very grateful, our cat has been returned, thank you for your comments and sharing our post.

Our cats primarily stay in the buildings but occasionally roam around the property.
We will be putting up posters with photos of our cat family in all the recycling buildings so everyone that visits will get to know them! Thank again😊

Can you please help us - One of tortoise shell female cats has wandered away from the take it or leave building. If anyone has seen her contact the depot 723-4002 or if you have found her please return to the depot. She is a valuable part of the Depot family and we would like her back.
Thank you for any assistance you can give us.

We are Still Here to Collect Recycling:
The Edson and District Recycle Depot may look a bit different come October 1 but we are still here to accept recyclables: drop off for county residents. Then as usual all the residential and commercial paint, batteries, electronics, oil, fluorescent tubes & light bulbs as well as commercial drop off. We will continue with school recycle pick ups. Drop off locations may be in different places than you are used to, so please ask staff if you are unsure where your recycling goes.

For those residents not serviced for curbside recycling or have to much for your recycling cart you can bring it down to the depot.
