Opus at 12 Chamber Concert Society Opus@12 is an organization providing opportunities for amateur musicians to perform chamber music in L’entrée est libre et le fonctionnement est informel.

La Société des concerts de chambre Opus@12 est composée de musiciens amateurs adultes qui jouent de la musique de chambre pour la communauté. Traditionnellement, cette musique aurait été présentée dans une chambre de palais semblable à la « chambre moderne » de la Cité francophone. Les auditeurs sont donc permis de jaser et manger pendant les présentations. Opus@12 Chamber Concert Society is compo

sed of adult amateur musicians who play chamber music for the community. Traditionally, this type of music would have been performed in a palace chamber similar to the “modern chamber” in La Cité Francophone. The free performances are informal and listeners are permitted to chat and eat throughout the presentations.

Tomorrow is our concert Auprès de ma blonde! We have a special treat tomorrow. In an extreme rarity (not sure if ever or at least not for quite a few decades in Edmonton) we have two very rare orchestral instruments in the same concert (not in the same piece, however). Wonder what? Think "The Planets".

Coming up at next week's concert, Auprès de ma blonde, we are going to have some fun and exciting stuff. We won't forget St Patrick's Day 🍀 and you'll get to continue Irish classics with bodhrán drum. But what about French music, you say?? We will have a beautiful piece by Gabriel Fauré with harp. Also, the perennial folk favourite, Auprès de ma blonde, with a very special instrument new to our members' ranks (and possibly the only one in Alberta). Baroque music is also on the menu with our period ensemble players and we'll finish off in a Spanish baroque flurry with... more drum, now in the form of a riq (Arabic hand drum)!!!

Tomorrow attend our evening concert Starry Night / La nuit étoilée. A great selection of music, including instruments we've never had before. Admission is by donation, and all profits will go to Edmonton's Food Bank. Food donations also accepted.
