A powerful reminder from The Georgia Straight (June 4, 2026) about why PHS’s Molson Overdose Prevention Site (MOPS) matters so much in the DTES.
OPS is necessary because it...
✔ Saves lives with immediate overdose response
✔ Reduces drug use in public spaces
✔ Helps people connect to healthcare, housing, and support
✔ Provides a safe, respectful environment for people who are often excluded elsewhere

At a time when the toxic drug crisis continues, services like MOPS are not optional—they are essential to keeping people alive and supporting the wider community.

CVBS is looking for more wonderful volunteers to join our team.

A few hours of your time can make a real difference for neighbours facing food insecurity in the Cowichan Valley. Whether you enjoy serving coffee and lunch, packing hampers, sorting food, helping in the warehouse, or welcoming guests, there is a place for you at CVBS.

Volunteering is a meaningful way to give back, meet great people, and help make sure everyone who comes through our doors is treated with dignity, kindness, and care.

Learn more or register online at cvbs.ca/volunteer/

Thank you for helping us care for our community.
