Cowichan Agricultural Society CAS is the farmers' institute for the Cowichan Valley.

The Cowichan Agricultural Society and Farmers’ Institute (CAS) is a registered, non-profit society comprised of voluntary members and directors who live and farm in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The society strives to serve the needs of the local agricultural community, meeting monthly to identify and address issues of interest and concern to local farms, local farmers

, and agricultural stakeholders in Duncan, BC and the surrounding communities. Members of CAS also sit on committees in the wider community, advocating for farmers’ interests at community, municipal, provincial and federal levels.

Have your say on future B.C. Agriculture and Food programs and services 🌱

The B.C. Ministry of Agriculture and Food is asking B.C.’s industry associations and agricultural organizations, as well as B.C. producers and processors and other interested parties, to complete a short survey to help guide future programs and services.

Your input will help the Ministry better understand where support is needed most across the agriculture and food sector. The survey focuses on identifying priority areas for future programs and services, as well as gathering feedback on how funding programs are designed and delivered.

Volunteers Needed – CowEx Chairperson for Field Crops & Garden Produce divisions

The Cowichan Exhibition is looking for a volunteer (or small team) to coordinate the Field Crops & Garden Produce divisions for this year’s fair, happening September 18–20 with the theme “Proudly Canadian”. 

This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about gardening, agriculture, and/or community events. 

Responsibilities include:

-Coordinating class updates
-Organizing judges & volunteers
-Helping with set-up and displays in Mellor Hall
-Assisting during fair week and coordinating clean-up
