Service to the community is The Lions Club of Dartmouth, NS core mission, and we’ve certainly felt their amazing ❤️ support lately!

President/Treasurer Tony brought us extra hamburgers, hot dogs, buns and bottled water after a barbeque to aid Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency in remembering Captain Billy Marr. Tony also delivered a cheque to volunteer Chris after the Club held a dance in April.

And finally, Lion members enthusiastically participated in the Downtown Dartmouth Business Commission’s spring clean up, where Tim Hortons donated funds to Margaret’s House on behalf of those kind volunteers. In total, 450 lbs. of garbage was removed to keep downtown clean and welcoming!

Hats off to this exceptional organization. Oh, and Tony wanted to remind our readers that “We’re always looking for new Lions!”. 🤩

🎫🎟️🎫 Sending huge thanks to everyone who supported Margaret’s House at Fight League Atlantic’s mixed martial arts event on the weekend!

Our volunteer team of Jonathan, Lane, Mark and Ryan sold 50/50 tickets at Zatzman Sportsplex, and our takeaway was $1,285! We’re so grateful to FLA for inviting us back for this exciting evening, and to Daphne for making everything come together so smoothly. Community support like this means so much to us and the guests we serve. 💙

🥰 Good friends Edwina and Hannah arrived with a massive donation of our Wish List goods and more!

They embark on a shopping trip annually for our guests and this year brought 10 new fall/winter jackets, rain ponchos, umbrellas, takeaway containers, mountains of fresh fruit and bottled water, amongst other things. Thank you for this incredible kindness, ladies! Everything will be well used and appreciated by those we serve. 🙏🙏

Downtown neighbour Jeff from Celtic Corner surprised us with a kind financial donation recently, pictured here with Chairman Tim and Coordinator Karen. He went a step further and provided extra pulled chicken, fresh buns, and pasta and potato salads, from which we assembled many hearty lunches for Margaret’s House guests. Thank you for thinking of us, Jeff! 🤩

It was an honour to welcome representatives from the Pharmacy Association of Nova Scotia last month. They arrived with a very generous financial donation in honour of Glenn Rodrigues, for whom a memorial curling bonspiel was held.

Glenn passed tragically in December. His leadership in advancing community pharmacy practice in this province is renowned, as was his commitment to any cause he was passionate about, including Margaret’s House. Through his church (Divine Mercy Parish Dartmouth N.S.), he and his family were involved in preparing and delivering meals each month for those in need. He is deeply missed by so many who were fortunate enough to know him.

Sincere thanks to P.A.N.S. for sharing his memory with us - Tristan, our Coordinator Karen, Allison, Kayla, Sue, Allison, Martha and Lisa.
