Dr. Navaneelan is no stranger to making a difference in Cornwall. As the founder of Rachel’s Kids, she has dedicated more than two decades to improving the lives of children and families, both locally and abroad.

Her generosity, compassion, and extraordinary commitment to community service have made her a respected leader in Cornwall and an example of what it means to put service above self.

Rachel’s Kids celebrated more than two decades of community service with a private gathering at TAURO Restaurant honouring founder Dr. Rachel Navaneelan.

“It started as a backyard barbecue to raise money for children who were left orphaned after the tsunami,” Navaneelan said. “It got bigger and bigger, and the community came forward.”

That generosity helped support projects including Cornwall’s fully accessible Park of Hope. “My goal was to integrate them all and to be as one,” she said.

Senator Bernadette Clement praised Navaneelan’s leadership: “She always has so much drive, so many bold ideas, so much style.”

The charity continues helping children facing serious illnesses and supporting sensory rooms in local schools. “I know what the charity does for families like mine, and it’s really incredible,” said treasurer Crystal MacLennan.

IT’S BACK! THE 2ND ANNUAL RACHEL’S KIDS CURLING FOR KIDS CHARITY BONSPIEL!

Whether you’ve been curling for years or have never stepped on the ice before, this event is for YOU!

Join us for a fun day of curling for a great cause, with all proceeds going toward our various community programs.

Experienced curler? Bring your team, show us what you’ve got and enjoy a great day on the ice!

Never curled before? No problem! A demonstration and training session will be held before the bonspiel to teach you the basics and get you comfortable on the ice. Grab some friends, family or coworkers and give curling a try!

We were so excited to be invited to see the new communication board at Avonmore Elementary School - UCDSB! Inspired by their visit to Rachel’s Kids Park of Hope, these students were determined to have a communication board of their own!!! And we were happy to help out. Beyond the playground, copies of the board are also displayed in various areas throughout the school. What a wonderful example of inclusivity! We are so proud of our friends at Avonmore Elementary!

Through our “Helping Hands Program”, we were contacted about a wonderful local child who urgently needed a specialized activity chair to stay safe during meals and daily activities.

Because he lives with Autism Spectrum Disorder, he is very active and does not always recognize safety risks. He had outgrown his regular high chair and was able to tip it over, creating a serious choking and injury risk.

We were honoured to help. We were able to help…because of the support WE receive from YOU, our followers and donors.

Recently, we purchased this much-needed activity chair, bringing both safety for him and peace of mind for his family.

The chair provides supportive seating with a secure harness, helping him remain safely seated and calm during snacks, meals, and activity time while reducing the risk of falls or choking.
