50 years of service celebrated in one unforgettable evening.
Our Golden Anniversary was filled with everything that makes Lionism so special. Friendship, laughter, storytelling, community, a wonderful homemade dinner prepared by Lion Joe, and a dance floor packed all night thanks to Monty and the Crew.
Over the last 50 years, the Copetown Lions Club has proudly raised more than one million dollars that has gone directly back into supporting our community. That impact exists because of generations of Lions who chose to serve, volunteer, and care deeply about the people around them.
One of the highlights of the evening was recognizing several extraordinary Lions whose dedication and humanitarian service have helped shape both our club and our community for decades.
The Melvin Jones Fellowship, one of the highest honours in Lionism recognizing outstanding humanitarian service, was awarded to:
Dave Biehler
Bob Pearson
Moe Crickmore
The Helen Keller Award, honouring Lions who carry forward the mission of serving those facing vision loss and challenges in our communities, was awarded to:
Willie Arnold
The Art Woods Golden Tree Award, recognizing dedication to service and environmental stewardship in Lionism, was awarded to:
Peter Oswald
These awards represent a lifetime of showing up, helping others, and leading with heart.
As we celebrated the last 50 years, there was also so much excitement for what comes next. With a growing number of new members joining the Copetown Lions, the future of this club feels incredibly bright. New energy, new ideas, and the same shared commitment to service will carry this legacy forward for generations to come.
To every Lion who helped build this club, thank you. What a privilege it is to continue this journey together.
